Developed by Fabspeed Motorsport, this performance package combines a high-flow Maxflo exhaust system, upgraded exhaust pipework, a performance airbox cover and a BMC F1 air filter to enhance the driving characteristics of the classic air-cooled Porsche flat-six engine.
The package is designed to improve exhaust gas flow, reduce intake restrictions, enhance throttle response and produce a more distinctive sports exhaust note.
The Maxflo exhaust system is constructed using high-quality T304L stainless steel tubing, offering corrosion resistance and durability under demanding operating conditions.
Actual performance improvements depend on the selected package configuration, engine condition, fuel quality, installation and operating conditions.
The Fabspeed Sport Performance Package is particularly suited to Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 enthusiasts seeking improved engine responsiveness, a more engaging exhaust sound and a coordinated performance upgrade rather than purchasing individual components separately.
What This Product Does:
The Fabspeed Sport Performance Package upgrades several components that influence how the Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 engine takes in air, expels exhaust gases and responds to driver inputs.
Its main functions and benefits include:
- Improved Exhaust Flow: Reduces restrictions within the selected exhaust system components.
- Enhanced Engine Breathing: Combines intake and exhaust upgrades to support more efficient airflow through the engine.
- Increased Performance Potential: Fabspeed advertises gains of up to 24 hp with the appropriate complete exhaust and DME upgrade configuration.
- Improved Torque Response: The complete configured package is advertised with gains of up to 22 lb-ft of torque.
- Sharper Throttle Response: Designed to make the engine feel more responsive to accelerator input.
- Sportier Exhaust Sound: Produces a deeper, more pronounced sports exhaust note.
- Reduced Exhaust System Weight: Advertised weight saving of approximately 17 lb (8 kg).
- Improved Intake Airflow: The CUP airbox cover and BMC F1 filter help reduce intake restriction.
- Durable Exhaust Construction: T304L stainless steel provides resistance to corrosion and thermal deterioration.
- Coordinated Performance Upgrade: Combines complementary components in one package.
The Fabspeed Sport Performance Package is primarily a performance upgrade rather than a routine replacement or repair kit.
However, owners may consider upgrading when the original exhaust or intake system shows signs of ageing, deterioration or reduced performance.
Common symptoms associated with worn or damaged factory components include:
Exhaust System Symptoms
- Excessive Exhaust Corrosion: Rust around the original muffler, pipework or joints may weaken the exhaust system.
- Exhaust Leaks: Damaged joints, cracks or deteriorated connections may cause escaping exhaust gases.
- Unusual Exhaust Noises: Rattling, blowing sounds or metallic vibrations may indicate damage to the original exhaust.
- Deteriorated Exhaust Muffler: Internal corrosion or loose internal components may produce unwanted rattling or changes in exhaust sound.
- Visible Exhaust Damage: Impacts, damaged brackets or cracked pipework can affect the condition of the original system.
- Exhaust Fumes Around the Vehicle: Leaks can allow exhaust gases to escape from unintended locations and require prompt investigation.
Why Replacement / Upgrading Matters:
- Upgrading the original intake and exhaust system can provide a more engaging driving experience while allowing owners to replace ageing components with modern performance-oriented alternatives.
- The Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 is known for its naturally aspirated air-cooled flat-six engine, distinctive exhaust character and mechanical driving feel.
- The original exhaust and intake systems were engineered to balance performance, noise, emissions requirements and everyday usability.
- The Fabspeed Sport Performance Package is designed for owners seeking a more performance-focused configuration.
