What Does This Brake Package Do?
The front braking system is responsible for delivering the majority of your Porsche's stopping force, allowing safe, controlled braking in every driving situation.
Why Do Brake Discs and Pads Wear?
Brake components naturally wear through repeated friction and exposure to high temperatures.
Common factors that contribute to wear include:
- Daily driving
- Fast road use
- Repeated heavy braking
- Stop-start traffic
- Heat cycling
- General vehicle mileage
Over time, brake pads lose friction material while brake discs gradually become thinner, eventually reaching their minimum service limits.
Why Replace the Complete Brake Kit?
Changing the brake discs, pads and wear sensors together ensures every component starts its service life at the same time.
Benefits include:
- Maximum braking efficiency
- Proper bedding-in of new pads and discs
- Improved pedal feel
- Reduced brake noise and vibration
- Accurate brake wear monitoring
- Even wear across all braking components
- Reduced future maintenance costs
Replacing the complete front brake assembly provides the best combination of performance, safety and long-term reliability.
When Should This Kit Be Replaced?
A complete brake replacement should be carried out when:
- Brake pads reach the minimum wear limit
- Brake wear warning lights are activated
- Brake discs measure below the manufacturer's minimum thickness
- Disc surfaces become heavily scored or heat damaged
- Brake judder develops
- Braking performance becomes inconsistent
- Routine servicing identifies excessive wear
Replacing all wear components together helps maintain the responsive braking characteristics expected from the Porsche 992 Carrera S range.
