Diagram Ref No 25
Manufactured to Porsche's original equipment requirements, this adhesive tape provides a reliable bonding solution for fitting and securing compatible vehicle trim components without the need for additional mechanical fasteners.
Designed for applications within the exterior body trim system, the tape helps maintain correct positioning and secure attachment of decorative mouldings while preserving the vehicle's original appearance.
The adhesive tape is particularly useful during bodywork repairs, trim replacement and vehicle restoration, where existing adhesive material must be removed before new components are installed.
Over time, original trim adhesive can deteriorate due to temperature changes, moisture, environmental exposure and repeated vehicle washing. As the adhesive bond weakens, exterior mouldings may begin to lift, separate or become loose.
Replacing deteriorated adhesive tape with a Genuine Porsche product helps restore secure trim attachment, maintain correct panel alignment and preserve the original factory finish.
Supplied as a convenient 4-metre roll, this adhesive tape can be cut to the required length for compatible applications, making it suitable for professional bodyshop repairs and exterior trim maintenance.
What This Product Does:
The Porsche Adhesive Tape is designed to provide a secure bonding surface between compatible exterior decorative mouldings and the vehicle's body panels.
It forms part of the vehicle's trim mounting arrangement, helping retain mouldings in their intended positions while maintaining a neat, factory-style finish.
Unlike conventional mechanical fasteners, adhesive mounting allows suitable trim components to be attached without visible screws or clips.
Its main functions include:
- Securing exterior mouldings: Provides adhesive attachment for compatible decorative trim components.
- Maintaining trim alignment: Helps keep exterior mouldings correctly positioned against the bodywork.
- Supporting factory-style installation: Allows trim components to be mounted using the intended adhesive fixing method.
- Reducing unwanted movement: Helps prevent correctly installed mouldings from shifting or lifting during normal use.
- Maintaining exterior appearance: Supports a clean finish without additional visible mounting hardware.
- Supporting bodywork repairs: Provides replacement adhesive when damaged or removed trim is refitted.
- Preserving vehicle originality: Helps maintain the original trim attachment arrangement specified for compatible Porsche models.
Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:
Exterior trim adhesive is exposed to changing temperatures, ultraviolet light, moisture, cleaning products and environmental contamination.
Over time, these conditions may cause the adhesive bond to weaken, allowing the attached moulding to become loose or separate from the bodywork.
Common signs that the original adhesive tape requires replacement include:
- Lifting exterior trim: The edges or corners of decorative mouldings may begin to separate from the vehicle's body panels.
- Loose or detached mouldings: Weak adhesive bonding may allow trim components to move or become partially detached.
- Visible gaps behind trim: A deteriorated adhesive bond may cause uneven gaps between the moulding and the mounting surface.
- Incorrect trim alignment: Adhesive failure can allow mouldings to shift away from their intended position.
- Rattling or vibration: Loose exterior trim may produce unwanted noises during driving.
- Deteriorated adhesive material: Existing tape may become brittle, compressed, contaminated or lose its bonding strength.
- Peeling or separating tape: Adhesive material may detach from the trim or body panel.
- Poor attachment after repair: Reusing old adhesive tape during trim installation may result in an unreliable bond.
- Loose trim after washing: Water pressure and cleaning processes may expose an already weakened adhesive bond.
- Visible adhesive residue: Failed tape can leave uneven adhesive deposits around the trim mounting area.
Why Replacement Matters:
Replacing deteriorated exterior trim adhesive is important for maintaining secure attachment, correct alignment and the original appearance of Porsche bodywork components.
When the original adhesive loses its bonding strength, exterior mouldings may begin to lift or separate from the vehicle. If left unresolved, loose trim can become damaged, create unwanted noise or detach during driving.
Reusing old adhesive tape during repairs may also prevent replacement mouldings from bonding correctly, potentially requiring the work to be repeated.
Installing Genuine Porsche replacement adhesive tape helps to:
- Restore secure trim attachment: Provide a fresh adhesive bond for compatible exterior mouldings.
- Prevent loose or lifting trim: Help keep decorative components correctly positioned against the bodywork.
- Maintain factory appearance: Preserve the original alignment and finish of exterior trim components.
- Reduce unwanted movement: Minimise vibration and rattling associated with poorly secured mouldings.
- Support professional bodywork repairs: Provide replacement adhesive during exterior trim removal and refitting.
- Prevent potential trim loss: Reduce the risk of mouldings separating from the vehicle due to adhesive deterioration.
- Maintain original mounting methods: Avoid unnecessary modifications or additional visible fasteners.
- Improve repair durability: Replace contaminated or aged adhesive with fresh bonding material.
- Support vehicle restoration: Help reproduce the original trim installation arrangement during refurbishment.
- Maintain Genuine Porsche specifications: Use the manufacturer-specified part reference for compatible applications.
Replacing the adhesive tape is particularly recommended whenever exterior mouldings are removed for bodywork repairs, repainting, replacement or restoration.
For the best results, all old adhesive residue should be removed and the mounting surfaces correctly prepared before installing new tape.
