- Porsche 957 Cayenne Turbo / Turbo S 4.8L 2007-10
The Porsche Automatic Transmission Oil Cooler 95530701701 is a genuine replacement gearbox oil cooler designed to help regulate automatic transmission fluid temperature on Porsche Cayenne applications.
Fits:
- Porsche 957 Cayenne Turbo / Turbo S 4.8L 2007-10
Diagram Ref No 1
The cooler forms part of the Tiptronic transmission cooling system. As automatic transmission fluid circulates through the gearbox, it absorbs heat generated by the torque converter, internal clutches, gears and hydraulic system. The oil cooler removes excess heat from the fluid before it returns to the transmission.
Maintaining the correct ATF temperature is essential for reliable shifting, effective lubrication and long-term transmission durability.
This genuine Porsche replacement is suitable for replacing an original cooler that has become damaged, corroded, restricted or is leaking.
What This Product Does:
Automatic transmission fluid performs several important functions inside the gearbox, including lubrication, hydraulic control, cooling and transmitting force through the torque converter.
During normal driving, and particularly under heavy load, the transmission can generate considerable heat. The transmission oil cooler helps dissipate this heat and keep the ATF within its intended operating temperature range.
Its functions include:
- Cooling automatic transmission fluid
- Removing excess heat generated by the gearbox and torque converter
- Helping maintain a stable transmission operating temperature
- Protecting transmission fluid from excessive thermal degradation
- Supporting consistent hydraulic pressure and gear changes
- Helping protect internal transmission components
- Supporting reliable transmission performance under demanding conditions
- Maintaining efficient circulation through the transmission cooling circuit
The cooler itself does not control gear selection, but correct transmission temperature is important for proper operation of the complete Tiptronic system.
Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:
Transmission oil coolers can deteriorate because of age, corrosion, impact damage, blocked cooling fins or internal restriction.
Common symptoms that may indicate a faulty or deteriorating transmission oil cooler include:
- Automatic transmission running hotter than normal
- Transmission overheating warnings
- Gear changes becoming harsh or inconsistent when hot
- Delayed engagement of Drive or Reverse
- Transmission performance deteriorating after prolonged driving
- ATF leaking from the cooler or connections
- Red or brown fluid visible beneath the vehicle
- Oily residue around the cooler or transmission cooling lines
- Visible corrosion on the cooler
- Bent or damaged cooling fins
- Physical impact damage
- Restricted airflow through heavily contaminated fins
- Darkened or burnt-smelling transmission fluid
- Transmission entering a protective or reduced-performance mode
Similar symptoms can be caused by low ATF level, damaged cooler pipes, thermostat problems or internal gearbox faults, so the complete transmission cooling circuit should be inspected before replacement.
Why Replacement Matters:
- Automatic transmissions are highly sensitive to excessive operating temperatures. If the oil cooler becomes blocked, damaged or inefficient, the transmission fluid may operate at higher temperatures than intended.
- Excessive heat accelerates ATF degradation and reduces its ability to lubricate, cool and operate the gearbox's hydraulic components effectively. Over time, this can contribute to increased wear of seals, clutches, bearings and other internal transmission components.
- A leaking cooler can also cause the ATF level to fall. Insufficient transmission fluid can lead to poor lubrication, hydraulic pressure problems, abnormal shifting and potentially serious gearbox damage.
- Replacing a damaged or restricted cooler helps restore effective heat dissipation and allows the transmission to operate within its intended temperature range. It can also help protect a considerably more expensive gearbox from damage caused by prolonged overheating or low fluid levels.
- Whenever the cooler is replaced, the associated transmission cooler lines, connections, seals and ATF condition should also be inspected.
