Bilstein Sprint B8 front & rear shock absorber – Porsche 996 C2 1997–2005 by Bilstein for Porsche 996 C2 models with sports suspension or lowered springs. The B8 Sprint is a shortened damper option intended for reduced ride height applications, using Bilstein suspension know-how for Porsche fitment.
What This Product Does This front and rear shock absorber set supports damping control on compatible Porsche 996 Carrera 2 models where sport suspension or lowering springs are fitted. The shortened B8 design is commonly used where standard-length dampers are not the intended match for reduced suspension travel.
Functions
- Provides front and rear damping for suitable Porsche 996 C2 applications.
- Works with sports suspension or lowered spring setups.
- Supports suspension travel suited to reduced ride height.
- Helps maintain consistent damping when related units are renewed together.
- Forms part of a suspension refresh or lowered suspension configuration.
Symptoms of Fault
- Floaty ride or weak rebound control.
- Increased body roll or braking dive.
- Bouncing, instability or poor composure over bumps.
- Uneven or cupped tyre wear.
- Visible oil leakage, corrosion or physical damage on the damper body.
- Knocking or clunking, noting that mounts, bushes or links may also be the cause.
- Bottoming out or harshness on a mismatched lowered setup.
Why Replacement Matters
B8 dampers are typically chosen for use with lowering springs because they are designed around reduced ride height and travel. Replacing tired dampers can help restore intended suspension control, but related mounts, bushes and links should be checked at the same time. Wheel alignment is normally required after suspension work.
