Information
Chain housing O-ring, 6 x 2.5 mm
OE Match chain housing O-ring for Porsche 964 and 993 models from 1989 to 1998. This replacement sealing O-ring helps prevent oil leaks around the timing chain housing area and supports correct engine sealing during service or rebuild work.
Sold individually, 2 required per vehicle
Fits:
Porsche 964 1989 - 1994
Porsche 993 1994 - 1998
Diagram ref no 22
The chain housing O-ring seals the chain housing connection to help prevent engine oil seepage or leakage. A correctly fitted O-ring supports clean engine operation, oil system integrity, and reliable sealing around the timing chain area.
Functions
• Replaces the chain housing O-ring
• Helps seal the timing chain housing area
• Supports correct engine oil sealing
• Helps prevent oil leaks and seepage
• Suitable for timing chain housing, engine sealing, or rebuild service
• Replaces hardened, flattened, cracked, swollen, or damaged
• O-rings OE Match replacement for Porsche 964 and 993 engine repair.
Why Replace This Part?
Chain housing O-rings are exposed to engine heat, oil pressure, age, vibration, and repeated heat cycles. Over time, the O-ring can harden, flatten, crack, swell, or lose its sealing ability. A worn or damaged O-ring may cause oil residue, oil drips, engine bay contamination, low oil level concerns, or failed inspection. Replacing the O-ring helps restore proper sealing and prevent repeat oil leaks.
When to Replace This Part
• Oil is leaking around the chain housing area
• Timing chain housing service is being carried out
• Engine rebuild or resealing work is in progress
• The original O-ring is hardened, flattened, cracked, swollen, or damaged
• Oil residue is visible around the timing chain cover or housing
• Preventative replacement is required during engine service
• The vehicle is undergoing Porsche 964 or 993 engine restoration.
Where it fits on the car
This O-ring fits within the engine timing chain housing assembly on Porsche 964 and 993 models. It forms part of the engine oil sealing system around the chain housing area.

Description:
The four-valve technology is one of the sensitive parts of these otherwise robust engines: A regular replacement of the chain and its sliding elements is essential to avoid major damage. Combined with the sealing kit for the valve cover, you will receive all the parts you need to carry out the repair professionally.
Note:
For many vehicles over the years for cost reasons, only the upper shoe and the chain was changed. But even the lower shoe enters and becomes porous. Therefore, better anticipate the risk and take a look under the valve cover.
