Diagram Ref No 2
Available for the left and right sides under references 90121105122/1 and 90121105222/1, these clamps perform two important functions: they help secure the upper heater hose in its correct position and provide a locating point for the heater control cable.
Designed as an OE-style replacement, the clamps are suitable for restoring ageing, corroded, bent or missing original hardware and help maintain the correct factory routing of the heating system components.
What This Product Does:
The Porsche heating system relies on heater hoses to carry warm air through the vehicle and control cables to operate the heater flaps and regulate airflow.
These clamps help keep both systems correctly positioned by:
- Securing the upper heater hose
- Supporting and locating the heater control cable
- Preventing excessive movement of the hose and cable
- Maintaining correct cable and hose routing
- Reducing the risk of rubbing against surrounding components
- Helping the heater controls operate consistently
- Keeping the heating-system installation neat and securely mounted
Although a relatively small component, correct clamping is important because movement or incorrect routing can place unnecessary strain on hoses, cables and their attachment points.
Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:
After many years of heat exposure, vibration, moisture and road contamination, original heater clamps can corrode or become mechanically damaged.
Common signs that replacement may be required include:
- Visible rust or corrosion
- Bent or distorted clamp sections
- Cracks or broken mounting points
- Missing clamp hardware
- Clamp no longer tightening securely
- Heater hose moving excessively
- Heater cable hanging loose or incorrectly routed
- Rattling or vibration from unsecured components
- Heater cable rubbing against nearby components
- Chafing or marking on the heater hose
- Increased stiffness or inconsistent operation of the heater controls caused by poor cable routing
- Components found loose or deteriorated during restoration or servicing
A damaged clamp should also be replaced if it can no longer hold the hose or heater cable firmly in the intended position.
Why Replacement Matters:
- Correct routing and secure mounting are important to the operation and longevity of the heating system.
- If the heater hose is allowed to move excessively, it may rub against surrounding components, increasing the risk of wear or damage. An inadequately supported heater cable can also become misaligned, chafe or develop unnecessary friction, which may affect the feel and operation of the heater controls.
- Replacing a corroded, damaged or missing clamp restores the intended mounting arrangement and helps protect the associated hose and control cable from unnecessary movement and wear.
- For restoration projects, replacing deteriorated mounting hardware also helps return the heating system to a more complete and factory-correct installation.
