What This Product Does
The gasket forms a protective interface beneath the door mirror base. It supports an even fit, reduces direct contact between the mirror mounting and painted bodywork, and helps limit moisture and dirt entering around the installation point.
Functions
- Sits beneath the exterior door mirror mounting base
- Helps the mirror base locate evenly against the door
- Separates the mirror assembly from the painted mounting surface
- Helps restrict moisture and debris around the fixing area
Technical Details
- Brand: OE Match
- Reference number: 91173112900
- Component type: exterior door mirror base gasket
- Assembly context: interior and exterior mirror installation
- Associated with door mirror reference 91173111600 on the stated 1970–73 application
- Diagram applications include 911/911S, Carrera 2.7 and early 930 Turbo models up to 1975
Symptoms of Fault
- Visible cracking, splitting or deterioration around the mirror base
- The mirror mounting does not sit evenly against the door
- Moisture or dirt collects beneath the mirror base
- Movement or vibration caused by an incorrectly seated mounting assembly
- Marks or rubbing where the mirror base contacts the bodywork
Why Replacement Matters
An aged or damaged gasket can prevent the mirror base from seating correctly and may leave the surrounding mounting area exposed to moisture, debris or direct contact. Renewing it during mirror installation or restoration helps establish a clean mounting surface and avoids reusing a compressed or perished seal. Check the mirror, fixings and body mounting area at the same time so worn supporting parts are not left in place.
