The OE MATCH Front Drop Link is a high-quality replacement suspension component designed for Porsche 911 (964) Carrera 2 models equipped with M030 sports suspension and Carrera 4 models manufactured between 1990 and 1994.
Fits:- Porsche 964 C2 1990-94 with M030 sport suspension
- Porsche 964 C4 1990-94
Diagram Ref No 7
Also known as a front anti-roll bar link or stabiliser link, this component connects the front anti-roll bar to the suspension assembly, helping control body roll and maintain stable, predictable handling during cornering.
Manufactured to provide OE-style fitment and functionality, the OE MATCH Front Drop Link is designed to restore the original suspension geometry and anti-roll bar operation without requiring modifications.
Available in left-hand and right-hand versions, the drop link plays an important role in transferring suspension forces between the front wheels, helping the vehicle maintain improved stability, steering precision and road contact.
Over time, repeated suspension movement, road impacts, vibration and exposure to moisture can cause the original drop link joints and bushings to deteriorate, resulting in unwanted suspension noise, excessive movement and reduced handling precision.
Ideal for replacing worn, loose, corroded or damaged original links, this component provides a practical solution for suspension maintenance, repairs and classic Porsche restoration projects.
What This Product Does:
The front drop link connects the front anti-roll bar to the suspension system, allowing the stabiliser bar to resist excessive body roll when the vehicle corners.
As the suspension moves, the drop link transfers forces between the suspension and anti-roll bar, helping maintain balanced handling and consistent suspension behaviour.
Its key functions include:
- Body Roll Reduction: Allows the front anti-roll bar to resist excessive leaning during cornering.
- Suspension Stability: Helps maintain controlled and predictable suspension movement during changes in direction.
- Improved Cornering Control: Supports the anti-roll bar's ability to manage lateral body movement.
- Steering Precision: Helps maintain consistent suspension response, contributing to accurate steering feel.
- Anti-Roll Bar Connection: Provides the mechanical connection between the stabiliser bar and front suspension assembly.
- Balanced Suspension Response: Helps transfer anti-roll bar forces appropriately as the vehicle corners.
- Tyre Contact Support: Contributes to the vehicle's intended suspension balance and handling characteristics.
- Reduced Unwanted Movement: A correctly functioning drop link helps prevent excessive play and rattling within the anti-roll bar connection.
- OE-Style Suspension Operation: Maintains the original front suspension arrangement for the specified Porsche 964 models.
Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:
Over time, constant suspension movement, road impacts, vibration and exposure to weather can cause front drop links to deteriorate.
Common signs include:
- Knocking or Clunking Noises: Worn joints or bushings may produce knocking sounds from the front suspension when driving over bumps, potholes or uneven road surfaces.
- Excessive Body Roll: A severely worn or disconnected drop link can reduce the effectiveness of the front anti-roll bar, allowing increased body lean during cornering.
- Loose or Unsettled Handling: Excessive play in the stabiliser link may contribute to less predictable suspension behaviour.
- Rattling from the Front Suspension: A loose or deteriorated drop link may produce metallic rattling noises during suspension movement.
- Worn or Deteriorated Bushings: Cracked, split or compressed rubber components can affect the link's ability to transfer suspension forces correctly.
- Excessive Joint Movement: Play within the drop link joints may indicate that the component is approaching the end of its service life.
- Damaged or Torn Protective Boots: Where fitted, damaged joint boots can allow moisture and dirt to enter, accelerating wear.
- Visible Corrosion: Rust or corrosion around the link and its mounting points may weaken the component or make removal difficult.
- Reduced Cornering Confidence: The vehicle may feel less settled during quick changes of direction or cornering.
- Uneven Suspension Response: A worn link on one side can contribute to inconsistent anti-roll bar behaviour.
- Visible Bending or Damage: A physically damaged drop link may no longer maintain the correct connection between the suspension and anti-roll bar.
Why Replacement Matters:
- Replacing worn or damaged front drop links is an important part of maintaining the handling precision, suspension stability and driving safety of your Porsche 964.
- The front anti-roll bar is designed to reduce excessive body roll during cornering by transferring suspension forces between the left and right sides of the vehicle. The drop links provide the essential connection that allows this system to operate as intended.
- When a drop link becomes worn, loose or damaged, the anti-roll bar may no longer transfer suspension forces effectively. This can lead to unwanted knocking noises, excessive body movement and reduced handling consistency.
- A correctly functioning replacement drop link helps restore the anti-roll bar's intended operation, contributing to stable cornering behaviour and predictable suspension response.
- Worn drop links can also introduce unwanted movement and vibration into the suspension assembly. Replacing them helps eliminate noise caused by excessive play and prevents continued deterioration of the affected connection.
- For Porsche 964 Carrera 2 models equipped with M030 sports suspension and Carrera 4 models, maintaining the correct anti-roll bar linkage is especially important for preserving the vehicle's designed suspension characteristics.
- Continued operation with severely worn or damaged links may also place additional stress on surrounding suspension mountings and associated components.
- Replacing deteriorated links during suspension servicing or restoration provides an opportunity to inspect the anti-roll bar bushes, mounting hardware and neighbouring suspension components.
- Although drop links are available individually, replacing both front links together is often advisable when they show similar levels of age-related wear, helping maintain consistent operation across both sides of the front suspension.
- The OE MATCH Front Drop Link provides an OE-style replacement solution designed to restore suspension stability, reduce unwanted noise and preserve the precise handling characteristics of the classic Porsche 911 (964).

The front anti-roll bar drop link transmits movement between the anti-roll bar and the suspension arms, helping the stabiliser bar resist body lean and maintain balance during cornering. A solid drop link ensures the anti-roll bar works effectively, contributing to sharp handling and improved traction.
Function
• Connects front anti-roll bar to suspension components
• Transfers roll forces to improve vehicle stability
• Reduces body lean during cornering
Worn or loose anti-roll bar drop links can contribute to clunking noises at low speeds, sloppy steering feel, increased body roll, and uneven tyre wear. These symptoms indicate reduced stabiliser bar effectiveness. Replacing them with an OE Match drop link restores firm connection, reduces unwanted movement, and helps the vehicle respond consistently during dynamic driving conditions.
Replace the front drop link if you experience any of the following:
• Clunking or knocking noises over bumps or steering inputs
• Noticeable body lean during cornering
• Loose or vague front suspension feel
• Uneven or patchy tyre wear
• During front suspension overhaul or anti-roll bar servicing
