The OE Match Electric Fan is a replacement radiator cooling fan for selected Porsche 924S, 944 and 968 models.
Fits:- Porsche 944 1982-1985 Chassis F 94DN4 01735>>
- Porsche 944 1985-89
- Porsche 924S 1986-1988
- Porsche 968 1992-1995
Mounted behind the radiator, the electric fan draws air through the radiator core when natural airflow through the front of the vehicle is insufficient to control coolant temperature.
This is particularly important:
- At idle.
- In slow-moving traffic.
- After sustained hard driving.
- During hot weather.
- When the vehicle is stationary after reaching operating temperature.
- When additional cooling demand is present.
The water-cooled Porsche engine depends on both coolant circulation and airflow through the radiator to remove excess heat. At normal road speed, forward vehicle movement provides substantial airflow. When road speed falls, the electric cooling fan takes over this function.
A worn or failed fan can therefore allow coolant temperature to rise significantly even though the radiator, water pump and thermostat themselves remain serviceable.
Replacing a defective fan helps restore correct radiator airflow and protects the engine from excessive operating temperatures.
What This Product Does:The Electric Fan moves ambient air through the radiator to remove heat from the engine coolant.
Its main functions are to:
- Draw cooling air through the radiator.
- Control engine temperature at low vehicle speeds.
- Provide cooling while the vehicle is stationary.
- Supplement natural ram-air cooling.
- Help prevent overheating in traffic.
- Support stable coolant temperature during hot weather.
- Assist the complete engine cooling system.
- Maintain reliable cooling after periods of high engine load.
Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:
Possible symptoms include:
- Coolant temperature rising in traffic.
- Engine running hotter at idle than at road speed.
- Fan not operating when the engine is hot.
- Intermittent fan operation.
- Fan running slowly.
- Fan stopping unexpectedly.
- Grinding noises.
- Squealing.
- Clicking.
- Fan vibration.
- Fan blades turning unevenly.
- Burning electrical smell.
- Blown fan fuse.
- Electrical connector overheating.
- Fan motor becoming excessively hot.
- Engine overheating during low-speed driving.
Why Replacement Matters:
Replacing a failed Electric Fan helps restore:
- Correct radiator airflow.
- Stable engine temperature.
- Reliable cooling in traffic.
- Correct low-speed cooling performance.
- Reduced risk of overheating.
- Reliable fan electrical operation.
- Protection of the engine cooling system.
A functioning fan is especially important on vehicles frequently driven in:
- Urban traffic.
- Hot weather.
- Track-day queues.
- Slow-moving conditions.
