Quaife ATB Helical LSD differential for Porsche 944 is suitable for Porsche 944 models, model year 1986 onwards, including Turbo. A direct replacement for the standard Porsche differential, the Quaife ATB Helical LSD differential transforms your car's performance.
Unlike a conventional plate-style limited slip differential, the Porsche 944 Quaife ATB Helical LSD differential relies on gears rather than clutch plates for its operation. That means it is much smoother in operation.
The Porsche 944 Quaife ATB Helical LSD differential never locks harshly with a set pre-load of wheel slip across the driven axle, like a conventional LSD. Rather, the Porsche 944 Quaife ATB Helical LSD differential automatically biases the torque away from the spinning wheel across the axle, to a constantly varying degree, and never locks.
The Porsche 944 Quaife ATB Helical LSD differential has many benefits over a standard open differential, including maximising traction and minimizing wheelspin, eliminating torque steer and snatching in front wheel drive cars compared to conventional LSD units, and a maintenance-free design which retains the standard oil lubrication.
The Porsche 944 Quaife ATB Helical LSD differential is proven in circuit and drag racing, rallying and road use, and is produced from Corus steel billets, and is CAD designed and CNC machined, then inspected to ISO 9001 standards.

The Porsche 944 Differential Impulse Sender – OE Match (Part Number: 94460621000/1) is a replacement vehicle speed sensor designed to restore accurate speed measurement and reliable speedometer operation on selected Porsche 944 models manufactured between 1985 and 1991.
Fits:
Porsche 944 1985-91
Diagram Ref No 19
Mounted on the transmission differential housing, the impulse sender detects rotational movement within the drivetrain and generates an electrical signal used by the vehicle's speedometer system to calculate and display road speed.
Designed as an alternative to the original Porsche component, this OE Match replacement offers a cost-effective solution for repairing a faulty or unreliable speedometer signal while maintaining the intended fitment and functionality.
Over time, the original impulse sender can suffer from internal electrical failure, contamination, corrosion or deterioration caused by age, vibration and exposure to harsh operating conditions. Replacing a defective sender helps restore accurate vehicle speed information and dependable instrument operation.
Ideal for routine maintenance, electrical fault repairs and classic Porsche restoration projects, this OE Match component provides a practical replacement for a worn or failed original sender.
What This Product Does:
The differential impulse sender, also known as a speedometer impulse sender or vehicle speed sensor, is an important component of the Porsche 944's electronic speedometer system.
Located on the differential housing of the rear-mounted transaxle, the sender detects rotation through a mechanically driven arrangement and produces electrical pulses corresponding to drivetrain speed.
These pulses are transmitted to the speedometer, where they are interpreted to display the vehicle's road speed. The signal also supports the vehicle's distance-recording system.
Its main functions include:
- Measuring vehicle speed: Detects drivetrain rotation to provide the speed signal required by the electronic speedometer.
- Supporting accurate speedometer readings: Helps maintain a consistent and reliable road speed display.
- Enabling distance measurement: Provides the speed-related information used by the odometer and trip meter systems.
- Providing an electrical speed signal: Converts mechanical rotation into pulses that can be interpreted by the vehicle's instrumentation.
- Maintaining dashboard functionality: Supports correct operation of the original electronic speedometer system.
Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:
Over time, the differential impulse sender may deteriorate due to age, internal electrical faults, moisture exposure, corrosion or damage to its associated wiring and connections.
Common symptoms of a failing differential impulse sender include:
- Speedometer not working: The speedometer needle may remain at zero even when the vehicle is moving.
- Intermittent speedometer operation: The speedometer may work occasionally before suddenly stopping or displaying an incorrect reading.
- Erratic speedometer needle: Irregular electrical pulses can cause the speedometer needle to fluctuate, jump or display inconsistent vehicle speeds.
- Inaccurate speed readings: A deteriorating sender may produce an unreliable signal, resulting in incorrect speed indications.
- Odometer or trip meter malfunction: Loss of the speed signal may prevent the distance-recording system from operating correctly.
- Intermittent electrical signal: Damaged internal contacts, wiring or connectors can interrupt communication between the sender and the speedometer.
- Visible corrosion or connector damage: Moisture ingress and ageing may result in corroded terminals, damaged wiring or deteriorated electrical connections.
Why Replacement Matters:
Replacing a defective differential impulse sender is essential for maintaining accurate speed information and reliable operation of the Porsche 944's electronic instrumentation.
A malfunctioning sender may interrupt or distort the electrical pulses transmitted to the speedometer, resulting in inaccurate readings, intermittent operation or complete failure of the speed display.
Driving with an unreliable speedometer can make it difficult to monitor vehicle speed accurately and may affect compliance with road traffic requirements.
Installing a replacement OE Match differential impulse sender helps to:
- Restore speedometer functionality: Reinstate the electrical speed signal needed for correct speedometer operation.
- Improve speed reading accuracy: Help eliminate erratic or unreliable readings caused by a defective sender.
- Support odometer operation: Restore the signal required for accurate distance recording where the sender is responsible for the fault.
- Maintain driving confidence: Provide dependable speed information during everyday driving.
- Resolve intermittent electrical faults: Replace a sender suffering from internal wear or signal interruption.
- Preserve original vehicle functionality: Maintain the intended electronic speedometer arrangement of the classic Porsche 944.
- Offer a cost-effective repair: Provide an OE Match replacement alternative to the Genuine Porsche component.
Replacing the sender is particularly beneficial when restoring a Porsche 944 with a non-functioning speedometer or investigating intermittent speed signal faults.
