Designed for professional engine rebuilding and major engine repairs, this comprehensive gasket kit contains the essential seals and gaskets required to completely rebuild your engine, including both cylinder head gaskets. Whether you're carrying out a full engine overhaul, replacing leaking gaskets or rebuilding a high-mileage M97 engine, this complete gasket set provides the OE-quality sealing components required for a reliable, long-lasting repair.
Manufactured to original equipment specifications using premium sealing materials, every gasket is precision engineered for accurate fitment, exceptional sealing performance and maximum durability under the demanding operating conditions of the Porsche flat-six engine.
What Does a Complete Engine Gasket Set Do?
A complete engine gasket set provides all the critical sealing components required when rebuilding or overhauling an engine.
Its primary functions are to:
- Seal the combustion chambers.
- Maintain correct engine compression.
- Prevent oil leaks.
- Prevent coolant leaks.
- Keep oil and coolant passages completely separate.
- Maintain correct internal engine pressures.
- Restore factory sealing performance following engine disassembly.
Replacing every gasket during an engine rebuild ensures every sealing surface is renewed, reducing the risk of future leaks and improving long-term engine reliability.
Why Replace the Complete Gasket Set?
Once an engine has been dismantled, the original gaskets become permanently compressed and should never be reused. Installing a complete gasket set guarantees every sealing component is replaced at the same time, providing the highest standard of engine rebuild.
A complete gasket set is recommended when carrying out:
- Complete engine rebuilds.
- Cylinder head replacement.
- Head gasket repairs.
- Engine reconditioning.
- Major oil leak repairs.
- Coolant leak repairs.
- High-mileage engine refurbishment.
- Performance engine builds.
Replacing only individual gaskets can leave ageing seals elsewhere in the engine, increasing the likelihood of future leaks.
Why Do Engine Gaskets Fail?
Engine gaskets operate in extremely demanding conditions and naturally deteriorate over time.
Common causes of failure include:
- Continuous heat cycling.
- High engine temperatures.
- Engine overheating.
- Oil contamination.
- Coolant contamination.
- High mileage.
- Material ageing.
- Incorrect installation.
Renewing all gaskets during an engine rebuild restores the engine's sealing integrity and helps maximise service life.
When Should a Complete Engine Gasket Set Be Installed?
A complete engine gasket set should always be fitted
whenever:
- Performing a complete engine rebuild.
- Removing the cylinder heads.
- Replacing head gaskets.
- Reconditioning the engine.
- Repairing significant oil leaks.
- Repairing coolant leaks.
- Rebuilding a high-mileage engine.
- Carrying out preventative maintenance while the engine is dismantled.
Replacing every gasket during assembly helps eliminate future leaks, reduces repeat labour and ensures a professional-quality rebuild.

Typical Applications
Hylomar Gasket 3400 can be used as a gasketing compound between machined surfaces. It is ideal for sealing between mating faces on engines and transmission components where resistance to temperature and vibration are essential.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Hylomar Gasket 3400 should be applied to clean and dry surfaces, free of contamination such as oil or grease. The compound may be dispensed by hand from cartridge, concertina pack, or via a screen printing system. Once applied the joint should be assembled as soon as practical. Any excess compound can be easily wiped off external surfaces with a clean cloth soaked in Acetone or other suitable solvents.
