The Fabspeed Porsche 996 GT3 Competition Muffler Outlets with Adjustable Turndowns are a specialist exhaust upgrade designed to help Porsche 911 GT3 owners manage exhaust noise at track days, racing events and motorsport venues with strict decibel limits.
Fits:
- Porsche 996 GT3 MKI 1999-02
- Porsche 996 GT3 MKII 2003>>
Developed for Porsche 996 GT3 models manufactured between 1999 and 2005, these competition exhaust outlets replace the factory exhaust tips with adjustable stainless steel turndowns that allow the direction of exhaust discharge to be changed.
The Porsche 996 GT3 features a naturally aspirated 3.6-litre flat-six engine renowned for its high-revving character and distinctive motorsport-inspired exhaust note.
While this sound is an important part of the GT3 driving experience, high-performance exhaust systems can produce noise levels that exceed the limits imposed by certain racing circuits and track-day organisers.
Many motorsport venues use static or drive-by sound monitoring to ensure that vehicles remain within permitted noise levels. Cars exceeding these limits may be refused access to the circuit or required to stop participating.
Fabspeed developed the Competition Muffler Outlets to provide a practical method of redirecting exhaust noise without requiring the driver to replace the complete exhaust system.
The adjustable turndown design allows the exhaust outlets to be rotated, directing gases and sound downwards or towards another suitable angle rather than straight out of the rear of the vehicle.
This change in direction can alter the way exhaust sound reaches external measurement equipment, potentially reducing measured noise at particular monitoring positions.
Manufactured from T304L stainless steel, the competition outlets are designed to withstand the high temperatures and operating conditions associated with performance exhaust systems.
The product uses a bolt-on installation arrangement, with the required clamps and mounting hardware supplied.
No cutting or welding is required when fitting the outlets to the corresponding Porsche 996 GT3 exhaust arrangement.
Unlike a complete replacement silencer, these outlets do not introduce a new muffler or significant additional sound-absorbing material.
Their primary purpose is to redirect exhaust sound, rather than to substantially reduce the total acoustic energy produced by the engine.
They are particularly useful for Porsche owners who want to retain their existing exhaust system while gaining additional flexibility for track events.
What This Product Does:
The Fabspeed Competition Muffler Outlets replace the original rear exhaust tips with adjustable outlets designed to change the direction of exhaust gas discharge.
Their primary functions include:
- Redirect Exhaust Sound: Change the angle at which exhaust noise leaves the rear of the vehicle.
- Support Track Noise Management: Help reduce sound exposure at particular external measurement positions.
- Provide Adjustable Exhaust Direction: Allow the turndown outlets to be rotated to an appropriate position.
- Direct Exhaust Towards the Ground: Enable downward-facing exhaust discharge where suitable.
- Offer Alternative Outlet Angles: Allow the driver or technician to adjust the orientation according to the intended application.
- Support Motorsport Use: Provide additional flexibility for vehicles attending noise-controlled circuits.
- Replace Factory Exhaust Tips: Fit in place of the original exhaust outlet components.
- Maintain Existing Exhaust Hardware: Work with the corresponding exhaust mounting arrangement without requiring a complete exhaust replacement.
- Provide Durable Stainless Steel Construction: Resist corrosion and withstand normal high-temperature exhaust operation.
- Allow Convenient Adjustment: Use accessible clamping connections to enable outlet repositioning.
- Maintain Application-Specific Fitment: Designed for Porsche 996 GT3 models.
- Avoid Permanent Exhaust Modification: Bolt-on installation requires no cutting or welding.
Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:
The Fabspeed Competition Muffler Outlets are primarily a motorsport accessory and exhaust upgrade rather than a component that requires replacement at a fixed service interval.
However, the factory exhaust tips or existing outlet hardware may become damaged through age, vibration, corrosion, accidental impact or repeated track use.
Common signs that the existing exhaust outlet arrangement requires attention include:
- Exhaust outlets moving when inspected.
- Metallic rattling from the rear of the vehicle.
- Unevenly positioned exhaust tips.
- Loose mounting clamps.
- Exhaust tips contacting surrounding components.
- Heavy rust around mounting connections.
- Corroded clamps or fasteners.
- Surface deterioration.
- Weak or damaged welds.
- Difficulty removing or adjusting the outlets.
- Visible cracks.
- Deformed or bent outlets.
- Exhaust blowing noises.
- Black soot around damaged connections.
- Unusual vibration from the tailpipe area.
Why Replacement Matters:
Installing Fabspeed Competition Muffler Outlets provides additional control over exhaust discharge direction, making them particularly valuable for Porsche 996 GT3 owners who regularly attend motorsport events.
- Improved Track Noise Management: Adjustable outlet angles may help reduce measured exhaust noise at certain monitoring positions.
- Greater Exhaust Direction Control: Allows the exhaust discharge to be aimed downwards or in another appropriate direction.
- Potentially Wider Track-Day Usability: May help vehicles approach the permitted noise level for certain venues.
- Maintains the Existing Exhaust System: Avoids replacing the entire exhaust solely to change outlet direction.
- Quick Adjustment: Rotatable outlets can be repositioned using their clamp connections.
- High-Quality Stainless Steel: Manufactured from corrosion-resistant T304L stainless steel.
- Motorsport-Focused Design: Developed with noise-controlled performance driving in mind.
- Direct Bolt-On Installation: No permanent cutting or welding required.
- Included Mounting Hardware: Supplied with the required clamps and installation components.
- Maintains Porsche GT3 Character: Retains the existing exhaust system's general sound characteristics while changing their direction.
- Useful for Track-Focused Vehicles: Provides additional flexibility for vehicles used at different circuits.
- Cost-Effective Exhaust Adaptation: Offers an alternative to fitting a different complete exhaust system where outlet redirection is appropriate.
- Fabspeed Motorsport Engineering: Produced by a specialist in performance exhaust systems.
- Lifetime Warranty: Covered by the manufacturer's stated warranty terms.
