- Porsche 997 MKII Turbo 2010-13
The Fabspeed Valved Supersport X-Pipe Exhaust System for Porsche 997.2 Turbo and Turbo S (2010–2012) is a premium performance exhaust upgrade designed to enhance engine sound, optimise exhaust gas flow and deliver a more engaging driving experience.
Fits:
- Porsche 997 MKII Turbo / Turbo S 2010-12
Engineered by Fabspeed Motorsport, this high-performance exhaust system replaces the factory rear mufflers and catalytic converter assemblies with an advanced Valvetronic exhaust arrangement, allowing drivers to switch between a refined exhaust note and an aggressive sports exhaust sound at the touch of a button.
Manufactured from premium T304L stainless steel, the system features CNC mandrel-bent tubing, a quad-resonated centre X-pipe and electronically controlled exhaust valve operation.
When the exhaust valves are closed, gases are directed through the resonated X-pipe section, helping reduce exhaust volume for more comfortable everyday driving. When the valves open, exhaust gases bypass the X-pipe section, producing a louder, more aggressive exhaust note that complements the Porsche 911 Turbo's twin-turbocharged flat-six engine.
Fabspeed reports a weight saving of approximately 3 lbs (1.4 kg) compared with the factory exhaust arrangement. The system also includes a choice of quad polished stainless steel or satin black exhaust tips, providing a distinctive, motorsport-inspired appearance.
Designed for direct bolt-on installation without cutting or welding, the Fabspeed Valved Supersport X-Pipe Exhaust System offers a performance-focused solution for Porsche enthusiasts seeking adjustable exhaust sound, premium construction and improved driving enjoyment.
What This Product Does:
The Fabspeed Valved Supersport X-Pipe Exhaust System replaces the original rear exhaust components with a performance-oriented exhaust arrangement featuring selectable valve-controlled sound characteristics.
Its primary function is to channel exhaust gases away from the engine while reducing exhaust restrictions and allowing the driver to control the exhaust sound.
The system features a quad-resonated centre X-pipe that helps manage exhaust sound when the valves are closed. Opening the valves redirects exhaust gases through a more direct route, creating a louder and more aggressive exhaust tone.
Its main functions include:
- Selectable exhaust sound: Allows the driver to switch between a quieter exhaust note and an aggressive performance sound using the Valvetronic control system.
- Improved exhaust gas flow: Optimised pipework and a performance-focused design help reduce restrictions within the factory exhaust arrangement.
- Enhanced engine sound: Produces a deeper, more distinctive exhaust note that complements the twin-turbocharged flat-six engine.
- Supporting engine performance: Reduced exhaust restriction can improve exhaust gas evacuation and support increased horsepower and torque.
- Managing exhaust resonance: The quad-resonated centre X-pipe helps reduce unwanted exhaust volume when the valves are closed.
- Reducing vehicle weight: Provides an approximate 3 lbs (1.4 kg) weight saving compared with the factory system.
- Maintaining exhaust gas discharge: Directs exhaust gases through the selected exhaust outlets.
- Enhancing rear vehicle appearance: Quad exhaust tips provide an aggressive and premium exterior finish.
Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:
The original Porsche 997.2 Turbo exhaust system is exposed to extreme exhaust temperatures, engine vibration, moisture and road contaminants throughout its operating life.
Over time, exhaust mufflers, catalytic converters, mounting brackets, joints and valve-control components may deteriorate or develop faults.
Common symptoms indicating that the factory exhaust system may require inspection, repair or replacement include:
- Excessive exhaust noise: Corroded mufflers, cracked pipework or failed exhaust joints may cause unusually loud or inconsistent exhaust sounds.
- Metallic rattling: Loose internal muffler components, damaged catalytic converter substrates or deteriorated mounting brackets may produce rattling noises.
- Exhaust gas leaks: Cracked welds, damaged seals or loose connections can allow exhaust gases to escape before reaching the tailpipes.
- Blowing or hissing sounds: Exhaust leaks may produce noticeable ticking, blowing or hissing noises, particularly during acceleration.
- Visible corrosion or rust: Exposure to moisture, road salt and repeated temperature changes may cause corrosion around exhaust joints and mounting hardware.
- Reduced engine performance: Restricted catalytic converters or damaged exhaust components may increase exhaust backpressure and affect engine responsiveness.
- Excessive exhaust vibration: Worn mounting components or loose connections may cause unwanted exhaust movement and vibration.
- Faulty exhaust valve operation: On vehicles equipped with a valved exhaust, failed actuators or sticking valves may prevent correct switching between exhaust sound modes.
- Engine warning light: Catalytic converter efficiency faults or exhaust-related sensor problems may trigger engine management warning lights.
- Unusual exhaust odours: Leaking exhaust connections or malfunctioning catalytic converters may contribute to abnormal exhaust smells.
- Visible exhaust damage: Cracked welds, distorted pipework or damaged muffler casings can compromise exhaust system integrity.
Why Replacement / Upgrading Matters:
Replacing the factory exhaust system with the Fabspeed Valved Supersport X-Pipe is an effective way to enhance the Porsche 997.2 Turbo's exhaust sound, improve exhaust flow and increase driving enjoyment.
While a conventional replacement exhaust restores original functionality, the Fabspeed system provides a performance-focused upgrade with adjustable sound characteristics and premium stainless steel construction.
Its Valvetronic arrangement allows drivers to select a subdued exhaust note for everyday journeys or a louder, more engaging sound during spirited driving.
Upgrading to the Fabspeed system offers several advantages:
- Enhanced sports exhaust sound: Produces a more aggressive exhaust note that better highlights the character of the Porsche 911 Turbo's twin-turbocharged engine.
- Adjustable exhaust volume: Switch between refined and aggressive sound settings to suit different driving conditions.
- Improved exhaust flow: High-flow stainless steel pipework helps reduce exhaust restrictions compared with the original arrangement.
- Potential performance gains: Reduced exhaust backpressure may support improved engine responsiveness, horsepower and torque.
- Premium Valvetronic technology: Driver-controlled exhaust valves provide two distinct sound characteristics in one system.
- Reduced unwanted resonance: The quad-resonated centre X-pipe helps control exhaust volume when the valves are closed.
- Lightweight construction: Saves approximately 3 lbs (1.4 kg) compared with the factory exhaust.
- Corrosion-resistant materials: T304L stainless steel construction provides durability in demanding exhaust environments.
- Enhanced rear appearance: Quad polished stainless steel or satin black tips create a distinctive motorsport-inspired finish.
- Vehicle-specific design: Engineered specifically for Porsche 997.2 Turbo and Turbo S models.
- Direct bolt-on installation: Designed to fit without cutting or welding.
- Long-term durability: Premium materials and construction help withstand exhaust heat, vibration and environmental exposure.
- Manufacturer warranty support: Covered by Fabspeed's Lifetime Warranty, subject to the manufacturer's terms and conditions.
For Porsche owners seeking an exhaust upgrade that combines performance-oriented engineering with selectable sound, the Fabspeed Valved Supersport X-Pipe offers an appealing alternative to the factory exhaust system.
