Kit Includes:
- Maxflo Performance Mufflers (Including Deluxe Dual Style Tips)
- Sport Headers (Including Sport Cats)
- BMC F1 Air Filter
- ECU Upgrade
Developed by Fabspeed Motorsport, this performance package combines premium stainless steel exhaust components, a BMC F1 high-performance air filter and Fabspeed ECU tuning software to enhance engine breathing, throttle response and the distinctive sound of the naturally aspirated Porsche flat-six engine.
Both configurations include Fabspeed Maxflo Performance Mufflers with Deluxe Dual Style Exhaust Tips, a BMC F1 Performance Air Filter and an ECU tuning upgrade.
The Maxflo exhaust system is designed to produce a deeper, sportier exhaust note while supporting improved exhaust gas flow.
The upgraded exhaust headers reduce restrictions associated with the original exhaust arrangement, while the BMC F1 filter supports improved intake airflow.
Fabspeed's ECU tuning software is designed to complement the mechanical upgrades by optimising selected engine management parameters.
The stainless steel exhaust components feature 14–16 gauge T304 stainless steel construction with CNC mandrel-bent tubing for strength, corrosion resistance and smooth exhaust routing.
Fabspeed advertises performance improvements of approximately 13 horsepower and 11 lb-ft of torque, together with a weight reduction of approximately 10 lb (4.5 kg) for the package.
These figures represent manufacturer-published results from a specific test configuration and are not guaranteed for every vehicle.
The package also features Fabspeed's MyGenius handheld ECU tuning system, which allows compatible vehicles to receive a performance calibration through the OBD-II diagnostic port.
For owners seeking a coordinated performance upgrade rather than purchasing individual exhaust, intake and tuning components separately, the Fabspeed package offers a comprehensive solution.
What This Product Does:
The Fabspeed Performance Package upgrades the exhaust, intake and engine management systems to enhance the performance characteristics of the Porsche 987.1 Boxster and Cayman.
Its main functions and benefits include:
- Improved Exhaust Flow: The upgraded headers and Maxflo mufflers are designed to reduce restrictions within the original exhaust system.
- Enhanced Engine Breathing: Combines intake and exhaust improvements to support more efficient airflow through the naturally aspirated flat-six engine.
- Increased Horsepower Potential: Fabspeed advertises a gain of approximately 13 hp for its specified test configuration.
- Improved Torque Potential: Manufacturer-published gains are approximately 11 lb-ft.
- Enhanced Throttle Response: ECU tuning and freer-flowing intake and exhaust components are intended to improve accelerator response.
- Sportier Exhaust Sound: The Maxflo mufflers produce a deeper and more pronounced sports exhaust note.
- Reduced Exhaust System Weight: Fabspeed advertises an approximate 10 lb (4.5 kg) weight saving.
- Improved Intake Airflow: The BMC F1 air filter supports effective filtration with reduced airflow restriction.
- ECU Performance Optimisation: Revised engine management calibration complements the selected intake and exhaust configuration.
- Durable Construction: T304 stainless steel provides resistance to corrosion and high exhaust temperatures.
- Coordinated Upgrade: Brings together complementary performance components in one package.
Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:
The Fabspeed Performance Package is primarily a performance modification rather than a routine maintenance replacement.
However, worn or damaged original exhaust and intake components may prompt owners to consider replacing or refurbishing the factory system.
Excessive Exhaust Corrosion
Original mufflers, headers and exhaust pipes can deteriorate due to moisture, road salt and repeated heat cycles.
Severe corrosion can weaken the exhaust structure and cause leaks.
Exhaust Leaks
Cracked exhaust components, worn gaskets or damaged connections may allow exhaust gases to escape.
Common signs include blowing sounds, soot deposits and unusual exhaust smells.
Internal Muffler Damage
Ageing mufflers may develop damaged internal components, producing rattling, vibration or changes in exhaust sound.
Restricted Catalytic Converters
Damaged or internally restricted catalytic converters may increase exhaust backpressure and reduce engine performance.
Road-going vehicles with failed catalytic converters should be repaired using emissions-compliant replacement components.
Damaged Exhaust Mountings
Corroded fasteners, broken brackets or deteriorated exhaust supports may allow excessive movement.
Excessive Exhaust Noise
An unexpected increase in exhaust noise may indicate a leak, damaged muffler or failed connection rather than a deliberate performance characteristic.
Why Replacement / Upgrading Matters:
- Upgrading the intake and exhaust systems of the Porsche 987 Boxster or Cayman can enhance the vehicle's driving character, engine responsiveness and exhaust sound.
- The standard Porsche 987.1 is engineered to deliver a balance of performance, refinement, reliability and everyday usability.
- For owners seeking a more performance-focused configuration, Fabspeed offers a package that combines several complementary upgrades.
