Information
Front crossmember reverse lever adjusting screw.
This is an replacement adjusting screw for the front crossmember reverse lever - a critical component in the torsion bar suspension system of classic Porsche vehicles. Its mounted on the front crossmember to calibrate the reverse lever position and torsion bar preload.
Sold each, 2 required per vehicle.
Fits:
Porsche 912 1969
Porsche 911 T/E/S 1969 - 1973
Porsche 911 1974 - 1989
Porsche 911 (930) Turbo 1975 - 1989
Porsche 914 1970 - 1976
Diagram ref no 20
The front crossmember reverse lever adjusting screw provides fine-tuning of the reverse lever assembly on the front suspension crossmember. It enables precise adjustment of the torsion bar preload and suspension geometry, which affects ride height, wheel alignment, and handling balance.
This screw works within the front crossmember mechanism to establish the correct positioning of the reverse lever, which in turn ensures that the torsion bars and lever arms are calibrated accurately to support the vehicle’s weight and suspension movements.
The front suspension crossmember and associated reverse lever mechanism play a key role in how the vehicle’s torsion bars and front suspension geometry behave. A worn, damaged, or incorrect adjusting screw can cause:
• Improper torsion bar preload
• Uneven or incorrect ride height
• Poor alignment and handling issues
• Uneven tyre wear
• Steering imbalance
Replacing a worn or corroded component restores proper adjustment capability, enhances suspension accuracy, improves handling response, and helps maintain original suspension setup.
Replace this adjusting screw if:
• Threads are damaged, corroded, or worn
• Adjustment becomes difficult or imprecise
• You’re performing front suspension removal or rebuild
• Ride height or alignment cannot be correctly set
• Front crossmember or torsion bar work is underway
