What This Product Does
The injector is an electronically operated valve that meters pressurised fuel. Its nozzle disperses the fuel into a spray, supporting the mixture required for combustion.
Functions
- Controls the quantity of fuel injected.
- Atomises fuel through the injector nozzle.
- Responds to commands from the engine management system.
Symptoms of Fault
- Uneven idling or cylinder misfires.
- Hesitation when accelerating.
- Difficulty starting the engine.
- Increased fuel consumption.
- Fuel odour or leakage around the injector.
These symptoms can also arise from ignition faults or other fuel-system components; diagnosis should establish the cause before replacement.
Why Replacement Matters
A restricted nozzle, inconsistent delivery or internal leakage can disturb fuelling. Replacement is appropriate when testing confirms injector damage or a fault that cannot be resolved by suitable cleaning.
FAQs
Can an injector be cleaned instead?
Professional cleaning and flow testing may be suitable for contamination-related faults. Damaged injectors require replacement.
Should seals be checked during the work?
Inspect the associated seals and fittings, and renew them as required by the applicable fitting procedure.
