Information
Fuel level sender - Top mounted
A top-mounted fuel level sending unit that measures the amount of fuel in the tank and communicates that level to the dash gauge through an electrical resistance signal.
Fits:
Porsche 356B T6 / 356 C 1.6L 09/1961 - 12/1965
The fuel sender accurately measures the fuel level using a calibrated float and rheostat, delivering stable and precise readings to the dashboard gauge. It restores proper gauge function when readings become inaccurate or erratic, and ensures a secure, leak-free seal at the tank opening to maintain overall fuel-system integrity.
Original senders often fail due to:
• Float saturation or sinking
• Corroded rheostat contacts
• Broken or worn internal resistance wires
• Sticking float arms Poor sealing causing fuel odour or seepage
• A faulty sender leads to inaccurate readings, gauge fluctuation, or a non-functional fuel gauge - a significant inconvenience on a classic car.
Replacing it restores reliable fuel-level monitoring and helps maintain driving confidence.
When to Replace - Install a new sender if:
• The gauge reads empty or full constantly
• Fuel level fluctuates or behaves erratically
• The float has become saturated or deteriorated
• The sender shows corrosion or internal wear
• You are restoring or servicing the fuel tank
