Fuel Tank Level Sender Seal
Maintain the integrity of your Porsche fuel system with this
OE Match Fuel Tank Level Sender Seal for Porsche 964 and Porsche 993 models.
This essential sealing gasket sits between the fuel tank and the fuel level
sender unit, creating a fuel-tight seal that prevents leaks, fuel vapour escape
and contamination from entering the tank.

Although small and inexpensive, the fuel tank level sender seal plays a vital role in the safe and reliable operation of the fuel system. Over time, the original seal can harden, shrink or deteriorate due to constant exposure to fuel, heat and age, increasing the risk of fuel leaks and fuel odours inside the vehicle.
Manufactured to OE Match specifications, this replacement seal provides the correct fit and sealing performance for maintenance, fuel sender replacement and restoration projects.
What Does the Fuel Tank Level Sender Seal Do?
The fuel level sender seal creates a secure seal between the fuel tank and the fuel level sender assembly.
Its primary functions include:
- Preventing fuel leaks
- Sealing fuel vapours inside the tank
- Protecting against contamination
- Maintaining fuel system integrity
- Supporting accurate fuel sender operation
- Reducing fuel odours
- Helping maintain vehicle safety
Without a properly functioning seal, fuel and vapour can escape from the sender mounting area.
Why Do Fuel Tank Level Sender Seals Fail?
Fuel system seals operate in a harsh environment and are constantly exposed to fuel and temperature changes.
Common causes of failure include:
- Age-related hardening
- Fuel exposure
- Ethanol-blended fuel degradation
- Heat cycling
- Compression fatigue
- Shrinkage over time
- Incorrect installation
- Disturbance during sender removal
After many years of service, even an original seal that appears intact may no longer provide an effective seal.
Symptoms of a Failing Fuel Sender Seal
Common warning signs include:
- Fuel smell inside or around the vehicle
- Dampness around the sender unit
- Visible fuel seepage
- Fuel stains near the sender mounting area
- Vapour leaks
- Deteriorated or flattened seal
- Leaks after sender replacement
These symptoms should never be ignored, as fuel leaks present both safety and reliability concerns.
When Should the Fuel Tank Level Sender Seal Be Replaced?
Replacement is recommended when:
- Removing the fuel level sender
- Replacing the fuel sender unit
- Servicing the fuel tank
- Fuel odours are present
- Fuel leaks are discovered
- Carrying out preventative maintenance
- Restoring a Porsche 964 or 993
- The original seal shows signs of ageing
Most Porsche specialists recommend replacing the seal whenever the sender unit is removed.
Why Replacement Matters
Replacing an ageing sender seal helps protect the fuel system and vehicle.
Benefits include:
- Prevention of fuel leaks
- Reduced fuel vapour escape
- Improved safety
- Protection against contamination
- Elimination of fuel smells
- Reliable fuel system sealing
- Low-cost preventative maintenance
- Long-term peace of mind
For such an inexpensive component, replacing the seal can prevent far more costly repairs and fuel system issues.

Manufactured from high-quality automotive-grade material with excellent resistance to corrosion, vibration and environmental exposure, the protective cover is engineered to withstand continual temperature fluctuations, fuel vapours and moisture. Precision-manufactured to replicate the original Porsche dimensions and mounting profile, it provides direct OE-style fitment, making it ideal during fuel tank restoration, sender replacement or routine maintenance.
What This Product Does:
- Protects the fuel tank sender unit from external damage.
- Shields electrical connections from dirt and moisture.
- Helps prevent contamination around the sender assembly.
- Maintains the integrity of the fuel level sender installation.
- Supports reliable fuel level sensor operation.
- Preserves the original appearance of the fuel tank assembly.
- Restores factory protection for the sender unit.
- Forms an essential part of the vehicle's fuel tank system.
Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:
- Exposed fuel tank sender unit.
- Dirt or debris accumulating around the sender assembly.
- Moisture reaching the sender electrical connections.
- Corrosion on the sender or terminals.
- Loose or damaged protective cover.
- Increased risk of accidental damage during servicing.
- Poor appearance of the fuel tank area.
- Premature deterioration of sender components.
- Intermittent fuel level sender electrical issues caused by contamination.
- Missing factory protection around the sender unit.
Why Replacement Matters:
- The fuel tank sender protective cover is continually exposed to vibration, moisture, dirt and changing temperatures. Over time, the original cover can become damaged, corroded or misplaced, leaving the fuel level sender and its electrical connections vulnerable to contamination and accidental damage.
- Without adequate protection, moisture and debris can accelerate corrosion of the sender unit and electrical terminals, potentially leading to unreliable fuel level readings, unnecessary repairs and reduced component life. A missing or damaged cover can also detract from the originality and presentation of the fuel tank assembly during restoration.
- Replacing the original component with the OE Match Fuel Tank Sender Protective Cover restores factory protection and appearance. Manufactured to OE standards using premium-quality materials, it provides factory-style fitment, excellent durability and dependable long-term performance, helping protect the fuel sender assembly and maintain the reliability and authenticity of your Porsche.
