Information
Motor for electric parking brake (EPB).
The parking brake actuator motor translates signals from the vehicle’s electronic control module or EPB switch into mechanical movement that engages or disengages the parking brake. As part of the braking system, this motor helps hold the vehicle securely when parked - even on inclines - and works seamlessly with other vehicle safety systems.
Fits:
Porsche 981 Boxster / S 2012 - 2016
Porsche 981 Cayman / S 2014 - 2016

These parking brake actuator motors are factory-original Porsche units engineered to control the application and release of the electric parking brake. They are part of the EPB system that replaces traditional mechanical cables with electric servos that clamp the rear brake pads when the parking brake is activated. These components are designed and built by Porsche, ensuring perfect fit, correct electrical characteristics, and long-term durability.
Function:
• Electric actuation: Uses a motor to control lever or caliper movement for the parking brake.
• Precision control: Provides consistent braking force without manual cable operation.
• System communication: Interfaces with the vehicle’s onboard control modules to ensure accurate brake application and release.
• Durability: Designed to withstand repeated operation and exposure typical of parking brake use.
A failed electronic parking brake actuator can lead to:
• Parking brake that will not engage or release
• EPB warning or fault messages on the dash
• Loss of hill-hold or auto-hold functionality
• Reduced parking safety.
Replacing a faulty actuator with the correct Genuine Porsche part restores proper EPB operation and maintains the vehicle’s original braking performance and safety levels.
Consider replacing the parking brake actuator motor if you notice:
• EPB system warning lights
• Parking brake that won’t engage/disengage
• Unusual noises during park-brake operation
• Loss of related safety functions (hill hold, auto-hold).

The parking brake actuator motor is a small electric drive unit that applies and releases the rear parking brake mechanism when commanded by the vehicle’s control module. When you activate the EPB via the cabin switch, this motor translates that signal into mechanical movement - engaging or releasing the parking brake pads. This ensures your vehicle remains securely parked, even on inclines, and integrates smoothly with auto-hold or hill-hold features.
Function:
• Activates & releases the electronic parking brake when commanded via switch or control module.
• Provides controlled parking brake engagement without under-floor mechanical cables.
• Interfaces with vehicle stability systems, enhancing safety and convenience.
Over time the parking brake actuator motor can fail due to wear, moisture ingress, or electrical issues. A failing unit can lead to:
• Parking brake that fails to engage or disengage
• Warning lights or EPB fault messages on the dash
• Loss of auto-hold or hill-hold functionality.
Replacing it with an OE Match quality motor restores correct operation and avoids the inconvenience and safety concerns of a malfunctioning electric parking brake.
Replace the actuator motor if you experience:
• Inability to apply the parking brake
• EPB warning on the dashboard
• Parking brake engages unevenly or intermittently
• Strange noises from rear brakes during EPB operation
• Failure of auto-hold/hill-hold systems associated with the parking brake
