Maintaining the correct engine oil level is essential for lubrication, cooling and protection of internal engine components. The oil level sender allows the vehicle to provide the driver with an indication of oil level and, where applicable, a warning when the quantity falls outside the expected range.
Over time, an oil level sender can deteriorate through repeated heat cycles, vibration, oil contamination, electrical faults or damage to its wiring and connector. A defective sender may produce inaccurate or intermittent readings, trigger warning messages despite the oil being correctly filled, or fail to identify a genuine low-oil condition.
This Hella Oil Level Sender provides a high-quality replacement for a faulty or damaged original sender, helping restore dependable electronic oil level monitoring.
What This Product Does:
- Monitors the engine oil level.
- Provides oil level information to the vehicle's electronic system.
- Supports the dashboard or instrument oil level display where applicable.
- Helps identify when engine oil quantity is too low.
- Supports accurate monitoring between routine manual oil checks.
- Helps alert the driver when oil level requires attention.
- Provides information used by the vehicle's oil monitoring system.
- Replaces an inaccurate, intermittent or failed sender.
- Helps eliminate false oil level warnings when sensor failure is the cause.
- Provides an alternative for compatible Porsche applications.
- Incorrect engine oil level displayed.
- Low oil warning despite the engine having the correct oil quantity.
- Oil level display showing full when the level is actually low.
- Oil level reading stuck at one value.
- Intermittent or fluctuating oil level readings.
- Oil level measurement unavailable on the instrument display.
- Implausible oil level readings.
- Engine oil level sensor-related warning messages.
- Relevant diagnostic fault codes.
- Warning returning shortly after the oil level has been correctly adjusted.
- Damaged sender wiring or electrical connector.
- Oil contamination or deterioration around the sender connection.
- Physical damage discovered during engine servicing.
Why Replacement Matters:
- Correct engine oil quantity is critical to engine reliability. Engine oil lubricates bearings, camshafts and numerous other moving components while also contributing to heat management and internal cleanliness.
- A faulty oil level sender can create two distinct problems. If it reports a falsely low level, the driver may unnecessarily add oil. Overfilling an engine can itself cause problems, including oil aeration, increased crankcase pressure and potential contamination of intake or emissions systems depending on the engine design.
- More importantly, a sender that incorrectly reports an adequate level may prevent the driver from recognising genuine oil loss or consumption.
- Operating an engine with insufficient oil can reduce lubrication and increase component temperatures. In severe cases, low oil quantity can contribute to accelerated wear or major internal engine damage.
- It is also important to distinguish oil level from oil pressure. This sender monitors oil quantity; it does not replace the engine's oil pressure monitoring system. An oil pressure warning should be treated as a separate and potentially urgent issue.
- Replacing a defective component with this Hella Oil Level Sender helps restore trustworthy oil level information and allows the driver to maintain the correct engine oil quantity with greater confidence.
