The IWIS Timing Chain for Camshaft – Right is a replacement engine timing component designed for compatible Porsche applications. This chain operates on the right-hand side of the engine timing system, helping maintain the precise mechanical relationship required between the crankshaft and camshaft drive.
Fits:

Correct camshaft timing is essential for accurate valve operation, smooth combustion and reliable engine performance. As the engine runs, the timing chain operates continuously under load and depends on correct lubrication, tension and engagement with the associated sprockets and guides.
A worn, elongated or damaged timing chain can introduce excessive slack and timing deviation. If deterioration becomes severe enough for the chain to jump or fail, significant internal engine damage may result.
What This Product Does:
The camshaft timing chain forms part of the mechanical timing system that keeps the camshaft drive correctly synchronised with engine rotation.
The camshafts control the opening and closing of the engine's intake and exhaust valves. Their position must remain accurately coordinated with piston movement for the engine to operate correctly.
The right camshaft timing chain helps support:
- Correct camshaft drive
- Accurate valve timing
- Synchronisation of internal engine components
- Smooth and consistent engine operation
- Reliable combustion
- Correct engine performance
- Stable operation throughout the engine-speed range
Even relatively small deviations in timing can affect engine operation, making chain condition and correct tension important.
Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:
Possible symptoms of timing-chain or associated timing-system deterioration include:
These symptoms do not automatically confirm that the chain itself is defective. Tensioners, guides, sprockets, variable camshaft timing components, lubrication problems and other engine faults can produce similar symptoms.
Why Replacement Matters:
The timing chain is a critical internal engine component.
Replacing a confirmed worn, elongated or damaged IWIS Right Camshaft Timing Chain can help:
- Restore accurate camshaft drive
- Maintain correct valve timing
- Reduce excessive chain slack
- Reduce abnormal timing-chain noise
- Restore reliable mechanical synchronisation
- Protect associated guides and sprockets
- Reduce the risk of timing deviation
- Reduce the risk of the chain jumping
- Support smooth engine operation
- Protect expensive internal engine components
Ignoring a confirmed timing-chain problem can allow wear to progress until a considerably more expensive repair is required.
