Accurate timing is essential for correct valve operation, smooth combustion, reliable starting and consistent engine performance.
Although timing chains are designed for extended service life, continuous mechanical loading, friction, heat and lubrication conditions can gradually cause wear to the chain pins, links and contact surfaces. Timing-chain guides, tensioners and sprockets can also deteriorate. Excessive wear can increase chain slack, produce abnormal mechanical noise and eventually affect timing accuracy.
What This Product Does:
The Timing Chain transfers mechanical rotation through the engine timing system and helps maintain the required synchronisation between associated rotating components.
Depending on the specific engine configuration, correct timing-chain operation helps support:
