Always check the required Porsche oil specification and viscosity for the individual model before ordering.
Manufactured using fully synthetic base oils and advanced additive technology, this high-quality gear oil provides outstanding wear protection, excellent resistance to ageing and reliable lubrication under demanding operating conditions.
Its SAE 75W-90 viscosity grade delivers effective lubrication across a wide temperature range, maintaining smooth gear operation during cold starts while providing dependable protection at elevated operating temperatures.
The carefully balanced friction characteristics help reduce gearshift resistance and transmission noise, making it particularly suitable for compatible manual transmissions and transaxle assemblies requiring an API GL5 lubricant.
Specification: API GL5
Application: Compatible manual transmissions, transaxles and final drives
without limited-slip differentials
What Does Fully Synthetic Gear Oil GL5 75W-90 Do?
Gear oil lubricates and protects the moving components inside manual transmissions, transaxles and differential assemblies.
These components operate under significant mechanical pressure and rely on the correct lubricant to reduce friction, control wear and maintain smooth operation.
LIQUI MOLY Fully Synthetic Gear Oil SAE 75W-90 is designed
to:
- Lubricate gears, shafts, bearings and other moving components
- Provide excellent protection against wear
- Maintain a strong lubricating film under high mechanical loads
- Reduce friction and gearshift resistance
- Help minimise transmission noise
- Protect internal components against corrosion
- Maintain stable viscosity across changing temperatures
- Resist oxidation and premature ageing
- Support reliable operation under demanding driving conditions
Its fully synthetic formulation helps maintain consistent lubrication even when exposed to substantial temperature fluctuations.
Why Is High-Quality Gear Oil Important?
Manual gearboxes, transaxles and final drives rely on the correct lubricant to protect their internal components and maintain reliable operation.
Gear teeth and bearings are subjected to repeated mechanical loading, particularly during acceleration, deceleration and high-speed driving.
Using an unsuitable or deteriorated lubricant can contribute to increased friction, gear wear, transmission noise and difficult gear changes.
LIQUI MOLY Fully Synthetic Gear Oil GL5 75W-90 is formulated to provide excellent high-pressure protection and stable friction characteristics in compatible transmissions.
Why Choose Fully Synthetic SAE 75W-90 Gear Oil?
Fully synthetic gear oils offer excellent temperature stability and resistance to ageing compared with conventional mineral-based lubricants.
The SAE 75W-90 viscosity grade provides effective lubrication across a broad operating temperature range.
Benefits include:
- Reliable lubrication during cold starts
- Excellent protection at high operating temperatures
- Strong resistance to mechanical stress
- Consistent viscosity characteristics
- Reduced transmission noise
- Smooth gearshift operation in compatible gearboxes
- Excellent long-term wear protection
The correct viscosity and specification must always be selected according to the vehicle or transmission manufacturer's requirements.
Why Does Gear Oil Deteriorate?
Transmission and differential oils are exposed to heat, pressure and repeated mechanical loading throughout their service life.
Over time, these conditions can reduce the lubricant's protective properties.
Common causes of deterioration include:
- Prolonged exposure to high operating temperatures
- Oxidation and ageing of the oil
- Contamination from normal gear and bearing wear
- Heavy driving loads and repeated acceleration
- Moisture entering the transmission housing
- Incorrect oil levels Extended service intervals
- Use of an unsuitable lubricant specification
Deteriorated gear oil can contribute to increased noise, difficult gear changes and premature wear of internal transmission components.
When Should Gear Oil Be Replaced?
Gear oil should be replaced according to the vehicle or transmission manufacturer's recommended service schedule.
The appropriate interval depends on the gearbox design, operating conditions and vehicle usage.
A transmission or differential inspection may be required if
the vehicle develops:
- Increased gearbox or final-drive noise
- Difficult or notchy gear changes
- Unusual whining or rumbling sounds
- Visible transmission oil leaks
- Contaminated or degraded lubricant
- Excessive metallic particles in the drained oil
- A scheduled gearbox or differential service
These symptoms may also indicate mechanical wear or other faults, so replacing the lubricant alone may not resolve the problem.
Porsche Manual Gearbox & Transaxle Applications
LIQUI MOLY Fully Synthetic Gear Oil GL5 SAE 75W-90 may be suitable for selected Porsche manual gearbox, transaxle or final-drive applications where the manufacturer specifies an API GL5 SAE 75W-90 lubricant.
However, transmission lubricant requirements vary considerably between models and gearbox generations.
This product must not be assumed suitable for every Porsche manual transmission, differential or transaxle.
In particular, some synchronised manual gearboxes require specific friction characteristics or lubricant approvals that differ from conventional API GL5 gear oils.
Always confirm the correct oil specification using the Porsche workshop information or the relevant gearbox manufacturer's recommendations.
This product is intended for compatible assemblies without limited-slip differentials. Where a limited-slip differential requires a dedicated LS lubricant, a suitable limited-slip gear oil should be selected instead.
Application & Service Instructions
Always follow the vehicle or transmission manufacturer's instructions regarding the correct oil specification, filling quantity and service interval.
Drain the existing gear oil using the recommended service procedure and inspect the old lubricant for signs of contamination or excessive wear.
LIQUI MOLY confirms that this product is miscible with residual mineral-based oil remaining in transmissions and axle drives during an oil change.
However, the correct lubricant specification must still be observed.
Fill the transmission or differential to the manufacturer's specified level and inspect for leaks following servicing.
Dispose of used gear oil responsibly through an approved waste oil collection facility.
