Engineered to provide the correct thread engagement and clamping force, this genuine 40mm wheel bolt is designed for Porsche models requiring a longer mounting bolt, making it suitable for vehicles fitted with specific brake assemblies, factory-approved wheel spacers, or wheels that require increased bolt length.
Fits:
- Porsche 356 1950-55
- Porsche 356A 1955-59
- Porsche 356B 1959-63
- Porsche 356C 1963-65
As a critical fastening component, the wheel mounting bolt secures the wheel and brake assembly to the hub, ensuring safe vehicle operation under all driving conditions. Over time, wheel bolts can suffer from corrosion, thread damage, stretching through incorrect tightening procedures, or rounded heads caused by improper tools. Replacing damaged or worn bolts with Genuine Porsche components restores factory-correct fitment, safety, and reliability, making this bolt ideal for routine maintenance, repairs, and concours-standard restoration projects.
What This Product Does:
- Secures the wheel safely to the hub assembly.
- Provides the correct 40mm thread engagement where specified.
- Delivers the correct clamping force between the wheel and hub.
- Supports vehicles requiring longer wheel mounting bolts.
- Replaces worn, damaged, or corroded original fasteners.
- Ensures safe wheel retention under all driving conditions.
- Provides genuine Porsche fit, strength, and durability.
Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:
- Corroded or heavily rusted wheel bolts.
- Damaged or stripped threads.
- Rounded or worn bolt heads.
- Difficulty achieving the correct tightening torque.
- Stretched or overtightened wheel bolts.
- Incorrect bolt length fitted during previous repairs.
- Signs of damage after repeated wheel removal.
- Age-related deterioration of the original fasteners.
Why Replacement Matters:
- The wheel mounting bolts are critical safety components responsible for securing the wheel to the hub with the correct clamping force. A damaged, corroded, or incorrectly sized bolt can compromise wheel retention, resulting in uneven clamping, vibration, damaged threads, or, in severe cases, wheel fastening failure.
- Replacing worn or incorrect wheel mounting bolts restores safe wheel attachment and ensures the correct factory-specified fit and performance. Manufactured to Porsche's original equipment specification and supplied under part number 35633190300, this Genuine Porsche 40mm long brake wheel mounting bolt delivers the precise fit, exceptional strength, and long-lasting reliability expected from genuine factory components.

Although the wheel bolts ultimately clamp the brake disc firmly against the hub, the brake disc mounting screw plays an important role in keeping the disc correctly aligned during installation. This ensures accurate positioning of the brake rotor, simplifies wheel and brake servicing and helps prevent movement while the wheel is removed.
Due to repeated exposure to heat, corrosion, moisture and brake servicing, these screws can become seized, damaged or stripped over time. Replacing the mounting screw whenever the brake discs are renewed helps ensure trouble-free future maintenance and correct brake assembly.
What Does a Brake Disc Mounting Screw Do?
The brake disc mounting screw secures the brake disc to the wheel hub before the wheel is fitted.
Its primary functions include:
- Locating the brake disc correctly on the hub
- Maintaining disc alignment during assembly
- Preventing disc movement when the wheel is removed
- Simplifying brake servicing
- Supporting accurate brake disc installation
- Assisting wheel and hub assembly procedures
- Helping maintain factory brake fitment standards
Although small, this component plays an important role in brake system maintenance and assembly.
Why Do Brake Disc Mounting Screws Fail?
Brake mounting screws operate in a harsh environment and are frequently removed during brake servicing.
Common causes of failure include:
- Corrosion and rust
- Heat cycling from braking systems
- Rounded or stripped screw heads
- Seized threads
- Improper removal techniques
- Galvanic corrosion between metals
- Age-related deterioration
- Repeated brake servicing
It is common for original screws to become difficult to remove after years of service.
When Should Brake Disc Mounting Screws Be Replaced?
Brake disc mounting screws should always be inspected during brake maintenance.
Replacement is recommended when:
- Installing new brake discs
- Screw heads become damaged
- Threads show signs of wear
- Corrosion is present
- Screws become seized during removal
- Carrying out brake refurbishment work
- Restoring older Porsche models
- Performing preventative maintenance
Many Porsche specialists routinely replace retaining screws during brake disc replacement to avoid future servicing issues.
Why Replacement Matters
Replacing worn or corroded brake disc mounting screws helps ensure correct brake assembly and easier future maintenance.
Benefits include:
- Secure brake disc location
- Easier brake servicing
- Reduced risk of seized hardware
- Improved assembly accuracy
- Better long-term reliability
- Prevention of damaged hub threads
- Restoration of factory fitment standards
- Professional-quality brake maintenance
A new retaining screw is an inexpensive but worthwhile addition to any brake overhaul.
