Information
Alternator fan / impeller housing strap, Stainless steel.
This alternator fan / impeller housing strap is a high-quality replacement component engineered in stainless steel. This strap secures the alternator cooling fan or impeller housing in the engine bay of classic Porsche air-cooled vehicles, providing enhanced corrosion resistance and durability.
Fit:
Porsche 911 1965 - 1989
Porsche 911 (930) Turbo 1975 - 1989
Porsche 964 Turbo 3.3L / Turbo 3.6L 1991 - 1994
Porsche 914-6 1970 - 1976

This OE Match strap secures the alternator cooling fan or impeller housing to the engine block or accessory mount, maintaining correct belt alignment, reducing vibration, and preserving the designed airflow path for the cooling system. Its robust stainless construction helps ensure that cooling performance and accessory alignment remain stable through many heating/cooling cycles and varying environmental conditions.
Installed between the fan housing and the engine accessory bracket, the stainless steel strap:
• Provides a rigid mounting point for the alternator fan/impeller housing
• Maintains accurate belt and pulley alignment
• Reduces the risk of strap deformation, corrosion, or fatigue
• Helps ensure consistent airflow distribution for engine cooling
The factory strap is steel and, over time, can be prone to corrosion, bending, fatigue, or surface degradation due to heat cycling and environmental exposure. These issues can lead to fan misalignment, belt wear, and reduced cooling performance. Upgrading to an OE Match stainless steel strap enhances reliability, resists corrosion, and improves longevity - ideal for engines used in daily driving, classic car tours, or restoration builds where long-term durability is important.
When to replace:
• Original strap shows corrosion, rust, or fatigue cracks
• Fan housing shows signs of misalignment or vibration
• During alternator, cooling fan, or accessory belt service
• When restoring or rebuilding the engine assembly
• Preventive upgrade to improve reliability
