What This Product Does:
- The indicator lens serves as the transparent/amber cover for the front turn-signal / parking-/blinker light. It protects the bulb and reflector inside the indicator housing while providing the correct optical characteristics to meet visibility and regulation requirements.
- The optical lens surface (molded pattern, curvature, amber/clear colouring) ensures the light is diffused and visible to other road users when the indicator flashes — which is crucial for signalling direction changes, lane changes, or turns.
- The chrome rim around the lens provides a correct-period aesthetic finish, preserving the classic look of the early 911 / 912 cars.
- Cracks, chips, or breaks — due to age, stone chips, minor collisions or weathering. A damaged lens can leak water or dust into the housing, damaging the reflector or bulb.
- Fading or discoloration — old lenses often yellow or cloud over time, reducing light output and visibility.
- Loose or missing chrome rim / seal — can lead to poor sealing, moisture ingress, or misalignment.
- Non-compliant appearance or failed inspection — a cracked or broken lens may fail a vehicle inspection or be illegal to drive with, depending on local laws.
- Restoration or authenticity: for classic car restoration, correct lenses maintain vintage originality and value.
- Safety & legality: Working, undamaged indicators are essential for signalling — cracked or faded lenses reduce visibility and may lead to accidents or fail legal inspections.
- Protection of internal components: A proper lens seals out water, dust, and debris — protecting the reflector and bulb, and preventing corrosion or electrical issues.
- Maintaining classic appearance & value: For vintage cars like 911/912 (1968–73), original-style lens and chrome rim contribute heavily to authenticity and market value.
- Performance and visibility: Clear, properly coloured lenses ensure that your signals are bright and visible to other drivers.
