What This Product Does:
- The rear shock absorber top mount secures the top of the shock or strut assembly to the vehicle body or rear suspension tower. It ensures the damper is correctly located and loaded, and helps absorb vibrations, maintain correct geometry and isolate noise.
- Over time, mounts, washers, nuts and associated hardware fatigue – the mount may sag or shift, washers may wear, the nut may loosen, the bearing (if present) may wear. This reduces suspension precision, can introduce noise (clunks, creaks) and affects handling.
- This kit replaces the top mount nut, washers, mount components and related hardware — restoring the top of the damper assembly to like-new spec, which supports ride quality, handling, durability and quiet operation.
When You Should Consider Replacement:
- Knocking or clunking noises from the rear strut top area when accelerating, decelerating or going over bumps.
- Poor ride quality at the rear, increased vibration or a feeling of looseness in the rear suspension.
- Inconsistent handling or rear feel: e.g., rear end doesn’t feel as controlled or stable in corners.
