Water Hose, Intake.
The Genuine Porsche Water Hose, Intake is an essential engine cooling system component designed to maintain efficient coolant circulation and support reliable engine temperature regulation.
Fits:
Diagram Ref No 21
Manufactured to Porsche's original equipment specifications, this coolant intake hose provides a secure connection within the engine's cooling circuit, allowing coolant to flow between the relevant cooling system components.
The hose is designed to withstand the demanding operating conditions of a Porsche engine, including elevated coolant temperatures, changing system pressures, engine vibration and repeated heating and cooling cycles.
Over time, original coolant hoses can deteriorate due to ageing, heat exposure, chemical contact and constant pressure fluctuations. This deterioration may result in cracks, leaks, swelling or weakened connections, potentially compromising cooling system efficiency.
Replacing a worn or damaged hose with a Genuine Porsche component helps restore the integrity of the cooling circuit, maintain correct coolant circulation and reduce the risk of engine overheating.
Ideal for routine servicing, preventative maintenance and engine cooling system repairs, this genuine replacement hose offers factory-style fitment and dependable performance.
What This Product Does:
The water hose forms part of the engine's liquid cooling system and performs several important functions:
- Transfers Engine Coolant: Provides a passage for coolant to travel between connected components within the engine cooling circuit.
- Supports Engine Temperature Regulation: Helps maintain coolant circulation, allowing the cooling system to control engine operating temperatures.
- Maintains Cooling System Integrity: Provides a secure connection designed to retain coolant under normal operating pressure.
- Accommodates Engine Movement: Its flexible construction helps absorb engine vibration and small movements between connected components.
- Withstands Temperature Changes: Designed to accommodate the repeated heating and cooling cycles experienced during engine operation.
- Supports Reliable Cooling Performance: Helps ensure coolant reaches the relevant cooling system components without unnecessary leakage or restriction.
- Protects Engine Components: By maintaining coolant circulation, it helps reduce the risk of overheating and temperature-related damage.
- Maintains Original Porsche Specifications: Designed for correct installation within the specified factory cooling system arrangement.
Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:
Coolant hoses are exposed to demanding conditions throughout their service life. Repeated heat cycles, pressure fluctuations and material ageing can gradually weaken the hose and its connections.
Common symptoms of a worn or failing coolant intake hose include:
- Coolant Leaks: Visible coolant dripping or seeping from the hose body, ends or connection points.
- Low Coolant Level: Repeated coolant top-ups may indicate leakage from the hose or another cooling system component.
- Visible Cracks or Splits: Surface cracking, especially around bends and connection points, may indicate ageing or material deterioration.
- Swollen or Bulging Hose: Sections of the hose may become enlarged or distorted due to internal deterioration or excessive pressure.
- Hardened or Brittle Rubber: Prolonged exposure to heat can cause the hose material to lose flexibility and become more susceptible to cracking.
- Soft or Spongy Sections: Internal material breakdown may cause the hose to feel unusually soft or weakened.
- Engine Overheating: Significant coolant loss or restricted circulation may lead to elevated engine operating temperatures.
- Coolant Warning Messages: Low coolant levels caused by leakage may trigger dashboard warnings.
- Sweet Coolant Smell: Escaping antifreeze may produce a noticeable sweet smell around the engine compartment.
- Dried Coolant Residue: White, pink or coloured deposits around the hose or its fittings may indicate previous coolant seepage.
- Loose or Deteriorated Connections: Worn hose ends or damaged clamps can compromise the seal between the hose and adjacent components.
Why Replacement Matters:
Replacing a worn or damaged coolant intake hose is important for maintaining the reliability, efficiency and safety of the engine cooling system.
Key Benefits of Replacement:
- Restores Coolant System Integrity: Replaces cracked, leaking or deteriorated hoses to help maintain a sealed cooling circuit.
- Helps Prevent Engine Overheating: Reduces the risk of coolant loss that could compromise temperature regulation.
- Maintains Reliable Coolant Circulation: Supports normal coolant movement through the engine cooling system.
- Reduces the Risk of Unexpected Breakdown: Replacing weakened hoses can help prevent sudden coolant loss during driving.
- Protects Expensive Engine Components: Helps reduce the risk of overheating-related damage to cylinder heads, gaskets and other internal engine components.
- Genuine Porsche Quality: Manufactured to the original equipment fitment requirements for the applicable cooling system.
- Correct Hose Shape and Fitment: Designed to match the original hose routing and connection points.
- Improves Long-Term Reliability: Replacing ageing cooling system components supports dependable engine operation.
- Ideal for Preventative Maintenance: Particularly beneficial when performing cooling system servicing or replacing adjacent components.
- Maintains Factory Specifications: Helps preserve the intended configuration and performance of the Porsche cooling system.
A failing coolant hose may initially cause only minor seepage or occasional coolant loss. However, continued deterioration can lead to significant leakage and an increased risk of engine overheating.
Replacing the hose promptly with a Genuine Porsche component is a practical way to help maintain the cooling system's performance and avoid potentially costly engine damage.
