What This Product Does
The socket forms the connection between a carburettor linkage rod and its mating ball. It allows the joint to articulate as movement passes through the throttle linkage. It is a linkage component, rather than a fuel-metering or sealing part within the carburettor.
Functions
- Connects the linkage rod to its ball joint.
- Accommodates movement at the linkage connection.
- Transfers mechanical input through the carburettor linkage.
Technical Details
- Brand: OE Match.
- Part reference: 90016901002.
- Socket designation: A8, also recorded as A 8.
- Thread direction: left-hand.
- Each supplied assembly diagram records a required quantity of two; this does not specify pack contents.
Symptoms of Fault
Sticking throttle operation or hesitation warrants inspection of the linkage and its supporting components. These symptoms alone do not establish that the socket needs replacement; check for an incorrect version or wear elsewhere in the mechanism.
Why Replacement Matters
Renewal is appropriate when inspection identifies a worn or damaged socket during linkage repair or carburettor refurbishment. Matching the original connection and thread direction is essential. OE Match develops replacement components around Porsche applications, using specification and fitment checks within its approval process.
FAQs
Will a right-hand-thread socket substitute for this version?
No. Select the thread direction required by the existing rod rather than relying on appearance.
What should be checked after installation?
Check linkage movement and carburettor synchronisation. Carburettor adjustment should follow the procedure appropriate to the vehicle and fitted system.
