Door Lock Receiver Sleeve – Set of 2
Restore smooth and secure door operation on your classic
Porsche with this OE Match Door Lock Receiver Sleeve Set. These sleeves form part of the door locking and receiver
mechanism, helping provide the correct interface between the locking components
when the door is closed. Worn or damaged sleeves can contribute to excessive
movement, poor engagement and unwanted noise from the door assembly.
Fits:
- Porsche 356A 1955-59
- Porsche 356B 1959-63
- Porsche 356C 1963-65

Supplied as a set of two, they are an ideal replacement during Porsche 356 door lock refurbishment or a complete vehicle restoration.
What Does a Door Lock Receiver Sleeve Do?
The receiver sleeve helps the door locking mechanism engage smoothly and securely when the door is closed. It provides a controlled contact surface within the receiver assembly, helping minimise unnecessary movement and wear between the associated components.
Correctly functioning sleeves can help provide:
- Smooth door lock engagement
- Secure door closure
- Reduced play within the locking mechanism
- Reduced metal-to-metal contact
- Quieter door operation
- Correct operation of the door receiver assembly
Why Do Door Lock Receiver Sleeves Fail?
Door lock components experience wear every time the door is opened and closed. On a classic Porsche 356, decades of use can gradually deteriorate the receiver sleeves.
Common causes include:
- Age-related deterioration
- Repeated door opening and closing
- Friction and mechanical wear
- Misaligned door or locking components
- Damaged or worn surrounding hardware
- Previous removal during restoration work
Once worn, the sleeve may no longer provide the correct support and contact within the locking mechanism.
When Should They Be Replaced?
Replacement should be considered if:
- The existing sleeves are worn or damaged
- Excessive play is present in the door locking mechanism
- The door rattles when closed
- Lock engagement feels loose or inconsistent
- Door lock components are being rebuilt
- The vehicle is undergoing restoration
It is also advisable to inspect the door lock, receiver and related hardware for wear or incorrect alignment when replacing the sleeves.
Porsche 356 Door Locks, Receivers & Restoration Parts
Correct door alignment and locking operation are important details when restoring a Porsche 356. Small components within the lock and receiver assembly can wear significantly over time, resulting in rattles, excessive movement or inconsistent door closure.
Replacing worn receiver sleeves alongside other deteriorated door hardware helps restore a more precise and secure locking action. During a Porsche 356 door restoration, the locks, receivers, hinges, seals and associated hardware should also be inspected to ensure the complete assembly operates correctly.
