Diagram ref no 28
This assembly connects the wiper linkage to the external wiper arm, allowing the motor's movement to operate the windscreen wipers smoothly and reliably.
What Does It Do?
The shaft transfers movement from the wiper linkage to the wiper arm. The bearing supports smooth rotation, while the crank connects the shaft to the operating linkage.
Why Does It Fail?
Common causes include:
- Corrosion and seized shaft bearings
- Wear from repeated wiper operation
- Deterioration of internal bearing surfaces
- Damaged or loose crank connections
- Moisture entering the mechanism
When Should It Be Replaced?
Replace if the shaft is seized, excessively worn, bent or damaged.
Common symptoms include slow or uneven wiper movement, excessive play, unusual noises or a wiper arm that fails to operate correctly.
Checks & Diagnosis
Inspect the shaft, bearing, crank and connecting linkage for wear, corrosion or restricted movement.
Check that the wiper motor operates correctly and that both wiper arms move freely without binding.

- Includes shaft, bearing and crank
- Suitable for Porsche 356 B and 356 C
