Information
Aluminium frame for Targa top roof.
OE Match aluminium frame for Targa roof is an replacement structural component designed to closely replicate the original Porsche Targa roof frame used on classic 911 and 964 models. It provides the rigid framework that supports the removable Targa roof panel, ensuring correct alignment, fitment, and sealing when installed.
Fits:
Porsche 911 Targa 09/1986 - 11/1990
Porsche 964 Targa 12/1988 - 09/1993
Diagram ref no: 17, 18, 19, 21, 23, 24
The Targa roof frame provides a rigid backbone and precise support for the removable Targa roof panel, helping maintain correct body alignment, sealing performance, and driver comfort. It carries load between the windscreen header and the rear roof hoop, ensuring the Targa top locks securely into place and that gaps are minimised for weather resistance and acoustic performance.
Installed between the front windscreen frame and the rear Targa hoop, the aluminium frame stabilises the roof structure, supports the removable panel during installation, and maintains correct geometry during driving. Its design ensures that the roof panel seats consistently against seals and trim, preserving the original Porsche driving experience.
Roof frames on classic Targa models can become bent, corroded, or damaged over decades of use, exposure, and panel removal/replacement. A compromised frame can cause poor roof panel alignment, water ingress, wind noise, and difficulty sealing. Installing an aluminium roof frame restores correct support, alignment and improves weather sealing, structural feel, and roof operation.
When to replace:
• Original frame is bent, warped, or corroded
• Roof panel won’t seat correctly or seal properly
• Roof removal/installation becomes difficult or misaligned
• During Targa roof rebuilds or restoration projects
