- Porsche 911 1968-1973 2.2L / 2.4L / 2.7L RS LWB (F)
Genuine Porsche Original Equipment (OE) intake manifold microswitch, designed specifically for Porsche 911 models equipped with Mechanical Fuel Injection (MFI). This factory-engineered switch provides a critical electrical signal within the MFI system, supporting correct fuel metering and drivability. Located on the intake manifold, below the throttle linkage.
Fits:
Porsche 911 1969 - 1973
with MFI Mechanical Fuel Injection
Diagram ref no 24
The microswitch detects mechanical movement or position within the intake manifold or throttle linkage and provides an electrical contact signal to the MFI system, helping regulate fuel delivery and idle characteristics.
With age and use, microswitches can suffer from contact wear, internal corrosion, or inconsistent actuation, leading to poor idle quality, hesitation, or incorrect fuel delivery on MFI engines. Replacing a faulty switch with a Genuine Porsche OE unit restores factory-correct switching behaviour and helps preserve the precise mechanical fuel injection characteristics that define classic MFI-equipped 911s.
When to replace:
• Unstable or inconsistent idle on MFI engines
• Hesitation during throttle transitions
• Intermittent electrical contact or failed switch testing
• During MFI system overhaul or intake servicing
• As part of a factory-correct restoration

Installed as part of the air intake manifold system, the heater element provides controlled heat when required by the vehicle's engine-management strategy. This is particularly important during cold operating conditions, helping the intake system reach suitable operating conditions and supporting consistent engine performance and emissions control.
Manufactured as an OE-style replacement, it is suitable for replacing an original heater element that has developed an electrical fault, internal failure or physical damage.
What This Product Does:
The heater element forms part of the engine's electronically controlled intake system.
Its primary function is to generate heat within the intake manifold system when commanded by the vehicle's engine management.
Depending on operating conditions and engine-management strategy, this can help:
- Support correct cold-engine operation
- Improve intake-system operation at low temperatures
- Assist cold-start performance
- Promote more stable combustion during warm-up
- Support emissions-control strategies
- Help the engine reach suitable operating conditions efficiently
The heater is electrically operated and is controlled as part of the vehicle's wider engine-management system.
Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:
Because this is an electrically controlled component, failure may not always produce an obvious mechanical noise.
Possible symptoms include:
- Check-engine warning light
- Stored engine-management fault codes
- Intake-heater circuit fault codes
- Poorer cold-start performance
- Rough running immediately after starting
- Unstable idle when coldHesitation during warm-up
- Increased emissions during cold operation
- Longer warm-up behaviour
- Reduced effectiveness of the intake heating system
- Electrical circuit faultsIntermittent engine-management warnings
Symptoms may be more noticeable in colder ambient temperatures.
Why Replacement Matters:
A correctly functioning intake manifold heater helps the engine-management system maintain its intended cold-start and warm-up strategy.
Replacing a failed unit can help:
- Restore correct intake heating
- Improve cold-operation consistency
- Resolve heater-circuit fault codes when the heater is confirmed faulty
- Support stable engine operation during warm-up
- Maintain correct emissions-system operation
- Prevent recurring engine-management warnings
- Restore the intake system to its intended operating condition
Ignoring a confirmed heater failure can leave the engine-management system unable to control this part of the intake system correctly.
