What This Product Does:
- This mirror cover trim functions as the external finishing piece on the door mirror assembly: it fits around the mirror base or where the mirror connects to the door, covering the internal mounting points, wiring harness, adjustment motor housing, and provides a seamless external appearance.
- Because the mirror is electrically adjustable, this cover helps protect the delicate mirror motor/wiring assembly from water ingress, debris, vibration and ensures the wiring routing remains hidden and clean.
- It also helps retain aerodynamic and stylistic integrity: the correct trim ensures the mirror assembly looks as the manufacturer intended, aligning flush with the door panel, matching paint or trim finish and preventing wind-noise or water leaks at the mirror mount.
Signs You Might Need Replacement:
- The mirror cover trim is cracked, damaged or broken, which may expose wiring or internal mirror mount components.
- The cover is missing entirely, or was removed and not replaced during a mirror repair or door panel replacement.
- The exterior appearance looks unfinished, misaligned or the mirror base contains visible mounting hardware — indicating the trim cover is absent or incorrectly fitted.
- You’re restoring the vehicle to high appearance standards and want the correct OEM cover replacing an old/preserved piece that has aged, faded, scratched or lost its fit.
Why Replacement Matters:
- Appearance & finish: As a visible part of the door mirror assembly, the trim cover impacts the overall exterior look of the vehicle. A proper fit and finish is important for premium vehicles like the relevant Porsche models.
- Protection & durability: The cover helps shield the mirror motor, wiring and mounts from the elements (rain, debris, vibration). Without a proper cover, wires may be exposed, and water ingress could lead to mirror motor failure or corrosion.
- Restoration/value maintenance: For a high-value vehicle, having correct OEM exterior trims (mirror cover, painted or unpainted) contributes to authenticity, build quality and resale value.
- Completes mirror assembly: When replacing the mirror or servicing the door panel, the cover is often overlooked; replacing it ensures the job is truly finished and the mirror assembly returns to factory specification.
