What This Product Does:
- The rear drop link connects the rear anti-roll bar (also called stabiliser bar) to the rear suspension arm or axle carrier. Under cornering, the anti-roll bar transfers load from one side of the rear suspension to the other, helping reduce body roll and maintain tyre contact.
- In a standard link, the joint usually has a rubber or polyurethane bushing that allows articulation but with some compliance. The uniball version replaces the bushing with a spherical bearing which allows joint motion with much less compliance and greater precision.
- The result: faster, sharper response of the stabiliser bar to suspension movement; less flex in the link; more direct force transfer; improved rear stability during cornering or dynamic driving.
Symptoms & Signs Of Wear / When To Upgrade:
- Clunking or knocking noises from the rear suspension when going over bumps or during rapid direction changes — likely indicating wear in the link joint or bushing.
- Excessive body roll or vague rear end feel in corners — if the anti-roll bar isn’t applying its load properly because the link is loose or soft, the rear end can feel less stable.
- Uneven rear tyre wear (especially outer shoulder) or strange rear alignment behaviour — since the stabiliser may not be transferring load correctly under dynamic conditions.
