This pressure ring creates a tight, oil-resistant seal around the valve-cover bolt holes, preventing leaks and keeping the cover seated properly. It maintains correct bolt clamping tension while protecting the aluminium cover from damage, and its heat-, oil- and vibration-resistant construction ensures long-term reliability under engine operating conditions. By replacing worn or hardened grommets, it restores proper sealing and supports clean, leak-free valve-cover installation during maintenance or gasket replacement.
Over time, pressure rings / bolt grommets degrade due to heat, oil exposure, and mechanical stress.
Worn seals can lead to:
• Oil seepage around valve-cover bolts
• Leaks dripping down into the engine bay or onto belts/harness
• Reduced engine bay cleanliness and potential fires in worst-case scenarios
• Difficulty obtaining proper clamping pressure when re-torquing the cover
Replacing the ring restores proper sealing, prevents future leaks, and ensures the valve cover remains securely mounted and sealed under all conditions.
When to replace - You should install new rings if:
• You are removing or replacing the valve cover or gasket
• Existing rings appear hardened, cracked, brittle, or deformed
• You notice oil leaking around valve-cover bolt heads
