What This Product Does
The damper provides support for the rear engine cover during opening and while raised, allowing access to the engine compartment. OE Match develops replacement components around Porsche applications, using original references and vehicle specifications to assess suitability.
Functions
- Assists engine-cover lifting.
- Supports the raised rear lid.
- Helps control lid movement.
Technical Details
- Construction type: gas-filled strut.
- Installation position: rear engine lid.
- Supplied references: 99151255100, 99151255101 and 99151255102.
- The 991.1 and Turbo diagrams specify two struts per vehicle under reference 99151255102.
- The 2016 GT3 CUP diagram specifies two struts under reference 99151255100.
Symptoms of Fault
- The raised cover no longer stays supported.
- The lid sinks from a partially open position.
- Fluid traces appear around the piston rod.
- Operation produces creaks or knocks.
Why Replacement Matters
A weakened support can leave the cover difficult to raise or unable to remain open. Renewing a faulty damper addresses lost lid support; inspect the mounting points and any second strut when assessing the repair.
FAQs
