Information
Rear lid with centre pillar, ALUMINIUM
The OE Match Aluminium Rear Engine Lid is a lightweight version of the classic Porsche deck lid, designed for 911 and 912 long wheelbase (LWB) models (1969–1973). It replaces the original steel panel with a lighter aluminium construction.
Fits:
Porsche 911 F 1965 - 1968 SWB (short wheel base)
*** Only for vehicles without a rear window wiper.
This OE Match aluminium rear engine lid is manufactured to replicate the original factory design while offering the benefits of reduced weight. It follows the same fitment and geometry as the standard 91151290302 steel lid, ensuring compatibility with factory hinges, latch systems, and grille components.
Lightweight aluminium engine lids were used on certain performance-focused models such as early 911S variants, where reducing rear weight helped improve handling and responsiveness
The engine lid covers and protects the engine compartment while allowing airflow through the grille for cooling. The aluminium construction reduces weight at the rear of the vehicle, helping improve balance and driving dynamics.
Function
• Covers and protects the engine compartment
• Allows airflow for engine cooling
• Reduces overall vehicle weight (compared to steel)
• Improves weight distribution and handling
Original engine lids may suffer from corrosion, damage, or incorrect replacements over time. Upgrading to an aluminium version offers both restoration accuracy (for certain models) and improved performance through weight reduction. It is especially beneficial for enthusiasts restoring period-correct cars or building lightweight performance-focused classics.
When to replace
• Rust or corrosion on original steel lid
• Accident or structural damage
• Poor panel fitment or alignment
• Weight reduction for performance builds
• During full restoration or upgrade
