What This Product Does
The relay switches the electrical supply to the fuel pump in response to the vehicle’s control signal. It is a switching component, rather than the fuel pump itself or a replacement for the circuit’s fuse.
Functions
- Controls electrical power supplied to the fuel pump.
- Allows a control signal to operate the pump’s higher-current circuit.
Technical Details
- Brand: OE Match.
- Component: fuel pump relay.
- Relay location/code: XVII.
- Supplied reference numbers: 92861511301, 92861511303, 92861511300 and 92861511302.
Symptoms of Fault
- Occasional starting failure or unexpected engine cut-out.
- Fuel pump operation that becomes intermittent.
- An audible relay click without the pump operating.
- Discoloured terminals, heat damage or a burning smell around the relay socket.
These signs can also result from faults in the pump, wiring, fuse or connections. Testing should establish the cause before the relay is renewed.
Why Replacement Matters
Renewing a confirmed faulty relay addresses interrupted pump power caused by worn contacts or internal electrical failure. Inspect the socket and adjoining terminals during the repair, as corrosion, loose connections or heat damage may require separate attention.
FAQs
- Does a clicking relay prove it works?
No. The operating mechanism may move while damaged contacts fail to pass sufficient current. - What should be inspected before replacement?
Check the specified fuse, relay seating, terminal condition, power supply and earth connections. - Can a larger fuse solve repeated fuse failure?
No. Retain the specified rating and investigate the underlying electrical fault.
