Porsche 986 Boxster
Porsche 997

Since Porsche already did such a beautiful job with the insignia that they recessed into there factory sill plates. We decided to leave perfection alone and just improve on the area that needs attention. As you are already aware, the 996 has an extremely wide door sill that makes getting in and out very difficult without dragging your feet across that big black plastic factory sill plate. Scratches were virtual impossible to avoid until now. Rennline has created a 300 series stainless steel sill plate that will cover any existing scratches and avoid any new ones. Best of all, installation is effortless. No more pulling off that factory sill plate hoping the paint doesn't come with it. Rennline's new sill plate design installs over the top of the factory plastic unit allowing your Porsches logo to still be seen. All sill plate sets come with double sided adhesive applied to the back ready for a 5 min installation. Available with an oval or factory style square logo cutout.
Note: Car must already have factory sill plates installed.

Plastic Expansion Rivet for Door Sill Step Plate
This Porsche Genuine OE Expansion Rivet is a factory plastic push-type fastening clip designed for securing the door sill step plate / threshold trim. Commonly referred to as a plastic rivet, expanding rivet, or trim clip, this component is widely used in classic Porsche models for fastening interior and exterior trim panels.
Sold individually, Typically multiple required per vehicle
Fits:
Porsche 911 1965 - 1973
Porsche 914 1970 - 1976
Diagram ref no 29
It replaces earlier reference 99959152640 and is supplied individually.
This is a multi-use trim fastening clip, also used in other interior applications depending on model and configuration.
This expansion rivet is inserted into pre-drilled holes and expands when pushed into place, locking the door sill plate or trim strip securely to the bodywork.
It provides a firm hold while allowing easy installation and removal, making it ideal for trim components that may require periodic servicing or replacement.
Functions & Technical Role
• Trim fastening: Secures door sill step plates and threshold trims
• Expansion locking design: Expands inside mounting holes for secure retention
• Vibration resistance: Prevents movement, rattling, or loosening of trim
• Non-corrosive material: Plastic construction resists rust and environmental damage
• OEM precision: Designed to Porsche specifications for correct fit and grip
Fitment / Position on car
• Fitting position: Interior / body trim
• Location: Door sill step plates (threshold trims) / Rocker panel trim strips / Interior trim panels (various applications)
Trim clips are often overlooked but are critical for maintaining proper fit and finish. Over time, they can:
• Become brittle or break
• Lose tension and fail to hold trim securely
• Be lost during removal or restoration work
A worn or missing rivet can lead to:
• Loose or rattling sill trims
• Poor alignment of interior panels
• Reduced overall finish quality
Replacing with genuine Porsche OE rivets ensures secure trim mounting and preserves the original appearance of the vehicle.
