Carrera RS / RSR-Inspired Design
The lightweight sports seats fitted to the Carrera RS and competition-focused RSR became an important part of Porsche's motorsport-inspired interior design.
The original seats prioritised low weight and driver support, with period versions using Nylon/Perlon flame-retardant fabric as part of their lightweight construction.
The Retro Trim RennSport takes inspiration from these classic seats while introducing several changes aimed at improving support, comfort and everyday usability.
The seat has been developed with:
- A taller seat back
- Increased lateral support
- Duralastic seat support belts
- Side adjustment
- Redesigned seat hinges
- Waist belt openings incorporated into the frame
- Rosettes for 5-point harness openings
The result is an RS/RSR-inspired seat with additional support and practicality for classic Porsche road cars, restorations and restomods.
The seat frames also incorporate waist belt openings and are supplied with rosettes for 5-point harness applications, providing additional flexibility when building a more motorsport-focused interior.
Any seatbelt or harness installation should use the correct vehicle mounting points and be installed appropriately for the intended application.
Lightweight Construction
The RennSport is designed around the lightweight principles of the classic Porsche RS and RSR seats.
The lightweight frame reduces unnecessary seat mass while providing the structural foundation required for the foam, support system and upholstery.
This makes the RennSport particularly suited to lightweight Porsche builds where reducing vehicle weight is important without sacrificing everyday seating comfort.
Fire-Resistant Foam & Duralastic Support
Fire-resistant foam is combined with Duralastic belts within the seat structure.
Rather than relying entirely on thick foam for support, the Duralastic system helps support the occupant while allowing a degree of controlled movement.
This creates a seating position that feels supportive and firm without making the seat unnecessarily harsh for longer journeys.
Improved Side Support
Compared with the classic seat that inspired it, the RennSport has been developed with additional lateral support.
The increased side support helps hold the driver more securely in position during cornering, reducing the amount of movement across the seat during spirited driving.
This makes the seat particularly attractive for classic Porsche owners who enjoy fast-road driving but still require a seat suitable for regular road use.
Redesigned Hinges for Everyday Use
The seat hinges have been redesigned to improve durability and make the RennSport more suitable for regular use.
This is particularly important for road-driven classic cars where seats may need to provide comfort and practicality on longer journeys as well as support during more enthusiastic driving.
Have Your Seats Upholstered Locally
Purchasing the RennSport as a seat frame kit gives you complete freedom over the finished appearance.
The kit can be supplied directly to your preferred local upholsterer or restoration specialist, allowing the seats to be trimmed alongside the rest of the vehicle's interior.
You can choose:
- Leather
- Vinyl Fabric
- Perlon-inspired materials
- Period-style Porsche upholstery
- Bespoke restomod finishes
- Contrasting or matching stitching
- Materials matched to existing door cards and interior trim
This makes it possible to create anything from a period-inspired Carrera RS/RSR interior to a completely bespoke classic Porsche restomod.
Why Choose the RennSport Seat Frame Kit?
The RennSport is designed for drivers who want more than simply a reproduction of a classic seat.
It retains the lightweight, motorsport-inspired character of the original RS/RSR seating concept while adding greater lateral support, improved comfort and increased practicality.

- Classic Carrera RS/RSR-inspired appearance

Retro Trim RennSport Classic Porsche Seat Frame Kits
The Retro Trim RennSport Seat Frame Kit provides an ideal solution for classic Porsche owners looking for the lightweight appearance of an RS/RSR-style seat combined with greater support and everyday usability.
Taking inspiration from the lightweight seats associated with the Carrera RS and RSR, the RennSport develops the concept with a taller profile, increased lateral support, Duralastic suspension and redesigned hinges.
For Porsche 911 restoration, restomod and lightweight performance projects, the ability to retain standard seatbelts while also incorporating provision for 5-point harness openings makes the RennSport a versatile choice for both road-focused and motorsport-inspired interiors.
Supplying the seat as a frame kit also allows the upholstery to be tailored precisely to the vehicle, making it suitable for everything from period-inspired Porsche interiors to completely bespoke restomod builds.
