Increase exhaust flow by replacing the restrictive factory catalyst for a high flowing German imported 200-cell HJS HD catalyst to unlock the ideal blend of performance, efficiency, and increased exhaust tone.
Fabspeed Motorsport is the largest distributor of premium HJS catalysts in North America, and second largest in the world. Based off years of engineering experience and ample testing we've selected the ideal catalyst to unlock performance from the factory exhaust system. This German imported 200 cell HJS HD catalyst is the top of the line solution to increase exhaust flow, resulting in a satisfying increase in turbo sound to match the extra horsepower gains. This specific catalyst has proven itself in numerous Ferrari and Lamborghini applications - able to withstand extreme abuse while preventing any check engine lights. The HD designation signifies the incorporation of a brazing stripe and special mantles to hold the metal matrix in place through the toughest of conditions while ensuring the overall integrity of the catalyst. The best part - increased performance without a check engine light.
The portion of the exhaust that contains the catalyst is a rather large component, making a full replacement section costly. Our design incorporates a Torca clamp for easy installation into the factory double walled exhaust configuration - cutting is required for installation. The system can be reverted back to stock at any time utilizing the same clamp.
The addition of Fabspeed's Sport Catalytic Converter added 7 whp and 18 ft-lbs of torque peak power gains when tested on our Dynojet on a stock vehicle. 13 whp and 17ft-lbs at 4000 will make a significant difference in drivability. We look forward to extracting even more power with our hardware in conjunction with a tune at a later date.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Cutting of the factory exhaust pipe is required, but is simple and reversible at any time. Please see our Installation Instructions to gauge your ability to perform the installation. The Fabspeed Valvetronic X-Pipe Exhaust System for the 718 4.0L cars wakes up the sleepy Porsche PSE exhaust and gives them a truly exotic sports car sound all while retaining the functionality of PSE (Porsche Sport Exhaust). Our design process started with 3D scanning the entire exhaust system using our CREAFORM 700 Handscan so that we could make a complete Solidworks 3D model of the exhaust. We then designed the exhaust and fixtures using that model so that the exhaust fit perfectly to OEM standards. After multiple revisions for sound and dyno testing we settled on using our CAD flow engineered investment cast X-Pipe and 2.5" 63.5 mm tubing for the most power and exotic sports car sound. The CAD flow modeled X-pipe is an exclusive Fabspeed part that gives a smooth high pitched exotic sound and flows much better than a X-Pipe handmade from U bends cut and welded together. The exhaust valves we use are made by Helical Limited in the United Kingdom. These ISO 9001 certified valves are the same ones Ferrari, McLaren and Porsche use on their GT cars. The flanges are thick 304 stainless steel that we CAD designed to perfectly match the OEM flanges and reuse the factory metal gaskets.
SOUND: With PSE off our Valvetronic exhaust gives a nice increase in volume without any cabin drone. With PSE on and the valves open it turns the 4.0L's exhaust note into a truly exotic sound with a significant increase in volume. This system will turn heads as you rip by.
POWER: When used in conjunction with our GPF Delete Over Axle Pipes we saw a gain of 14 HP and 32 ft/lbs of TQ at 2400 RPM, 8 HP and 9 ft/lbs of TQ at 4900 RPM and 12 HP and 8 ft/lbs of TQ at 7500 RPM. This is low end torque you'll really feel around town and horsepower that continues all the way up to redline.

These modular headers are the perfect solution for any street driven 4.0 liter Cayman or Boxster. Our modular design features a quick release V-band connector that allows the owner to easily swap between our German made HJS 200 cell cats and a cat bypass "straight pipes" for track use. Rennkraft, translated from German is "race power". These unique headers offer true street and racetrack functionality in an innovative precision engineered package.
SOUND:
Many have complained about the lack of sound with the new 718 4.0ltr cars, these high flowing headers completely solve that issue. Equipped with our 200 cell cats, you will get a louder exhaust note with a much more raw sound. Higher frequency tones are more defined, and deceleration burbles are more robust and transparent. With the cat bypass pipes installed, you're in store for a sound much more akin to a 911 CUP car than a Porsche street car. The volume isn't overbearing, but the sound is very aggressive and race bred. It totally changes the character of the car. With the stock muffler in place, there is no drone what-so-ever, even with our Over Axle GPF Delete Pipes also installed.
POWER:
After extensive dyno development we found that mid length headers made the most power across the entire power band. With no tune, compared to a stock car we gained 31 whp and 19 ft/lbs of TQ at 7400 RPM with Sport Cats and 33 whp and 24 ft/lbs of TQ at 7200 RPM with Cat Bypass Pipes installed. That's a gain of 33 HP and 36 HP, respectively, at the crank! Peak horsepower also increased from our baseline of 383 whp to 405 whp with our HJS Sport Cats and 409 whp with Cat Bypass Pipes. See our dyno graph above for more details.

Why We Choose HJS Catalytic Converters:
HJS German imported catalytic converters are made from some of the highest grade materials you can find in a catalytic converter. This yields high performance gains and longevity so it wont deteriorate over time like lower grade catalytic converters. These catalytic converters flow up to 93-95% of a straight pipe in most applications. The benefit is that you get the "straight pipe sound" while still being able to provide enough emissions scrubbing to prevent a check engine light.
Sport Catalytic Converter (STREET) - This product removes the OEM catalytic converters from the vehicle, and as such, is strictly intended for closed track events and off-road use only. This product contains a High-Flow Sport Catalytic Converter solely intended for track and race cars as it is NOT California Air Resources Board Certified and not EPA certified.
