Mounted between the rear anti-roll bar and its retaining brackets, the bush securely supports the stabilizer bar while still allowing the controlled rotational movement required as the suspension moves.
Over time, the original rubber bushes can harden, crack or develop excessive clearance around the stabilizer bar. Replacing worn bushes helps restore secure mounting, reduce suspension noise and improve the consistency of rear suspension response.
What This Product Does:
The rear stabilizer bar connects the suspension on the left and right sides of the vehicle and helps reduce body roll during cornering.
The stabilizer bar bushes hold the bar securely to the chassis while allowing it to twist as suspension loads change.
Their main functions include:
- Supporting the rear stabilizer bar
- Maintaining correct anti-roll bar positioning
- Allowing controlled rotational movement
- Helping reduce body roll during cornering
- Preventing excessive movement within the mounting brackets
- Isolating vibration and suspension noise
- Supporting predictable rear suspension behaviour
- Helping maintain consistent handling response
The bush itself does not increase the stiffness of the stabilizer bar. Instead, it ensures the bar is securely supported so it can operate as intended.
Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:
Stabilizer bar bushes are continually subjected to suspension movement, road contamination, moisture and changes in temperature.
Common symptoms of worn rear anti-roll bar bushes include:
- Knocking or clunking from the rear suspension
- Rattling when driving over uneven roads
- Squeaking from the anti-roll bar mounting area
- Excessive movement of the stabilizer bar
- Visible cracking or splitting of the rubber
- Bush becoming hardened or distorted
- Enlarged or worn internal bore
- Reduced suspension precision
- Increased body movement during cornering
- Rear suspension feeling less controlled
- Stabilizer bar moving inside its mounting bracket
- Wear discovered during suspension inspection
Knocking noises can also be caused by worn drop links, control arms or other suspension components, so the complete rear suspension should be inspected.
Why Replacement Matters:
The stabilizer bar can only work effectively when it is securely mounted.
If the bushes become worn or compressed, the bar can move within its brackets before it begins transferring suspension load from one side of the vehicle to the other.
This unwanted movement can result in:
- Knocking and rattling noises
- Reduced anti-roll bar effectiveness
- Less precise handling
- Increased suspension movement
- Inconsistent cornering response
- Additional stress on related suspension components
Replacing worn bushes restores a tighter connection between the stabilizer bar and chassis, helping the anti-roll bar respond immediately as suspension loads change.
Fresh bushes can therefore improve both refinement and handling by reducing unwanted movement and restoring the original operating position of the stabilizer bar.

The original Porsche front anti-roll bar bush (99634379217) is designed to deliver the same quality, fit, and performance as when your car first left the factory. Installed on the front stabilizer (sway) bar, it cushions and secures the bar to the chassis, allowing controlled movement that reduces body roll, vibration, and noise.
