The sunroof seal forms a tight weatherproof barrier between the sunroof panel and the roof frame. It prevents water ingress, wind noise, and debris from entering the cabin while maintaining smooth operation of the sliding roof mechanism.
It also helps guide airflow over the roof, contributing to reduced wind turbulence and improved cabin comfort at higher speeds.
Functions & Technical Role
• Weather sealing: Prevents water leaks into the cabin
• Wind noise reduction: Minimises air noise around the roof panel
• Debris protection: Keeps dirt and moisture out of the sunroof mechanism
• Panel alignment support: Ensures proper contact between glass/steel roof and frame
• OEM material quality: Flexible rubber compound designed for long-term durability and UV resistance
Sunroof seals are exposed to UV, temperature changes, and constant compression, which can cause them to harden, crack, or shrink over time. A worn seal can lead to:
• Water leaks into the cabin
• Increased wind noise at speed
• Poor sealing and rattling of the roof panel
• Contamination of the sunroof mechanism
Replacing with a genuine Porsche OE seal restores proper sealing, preserves interior condition, and maintains the premium refinement expected from Porsche vehicles.
