Located inside the gearbox, the cone ring uses friction to help equalise the rotational speed of the selected gear and transmission shaft before the engagement components lock together.
This process is essential for smooth gear selection and helps prevent grinding, crunching and excessive shock loading during shifts.
The OE Match replacement is suitable for gearbox rebuilding or repair where the original cone ring has become worn, glazed, scored or otherwise unable to provide effective synchronisation.
What This Product Does:
When the driver changes gear, the selected gear and transmission shaft may be rotating at different speeds.

A worn synchroniser system may also be associated with 2nd gear pop-out, but this symptom should not automatically be attributed to the cone ring alone. The guide sleeve, gear engagement teeth, synchroniser rings, selector mechanism and other gearbox components may also contribute.
