Diagram Ref No 6
It fits inside the right-hand rear wheel housing, covering the forward portion of the wheel arch and creating a protective barrier between the rotating rear wheel and the vehicle body, suspension area and surrounding components.
The liner helps protect the inside of the wheel housing from:
- Stones
- Gravel
- Water spray
- Mud
- Road salt
- Dirt and debris
As a genuine Porsche component, it is shaped to match the original mounting points and wheel-housing profile.
What This Product Does:
The wheel housing liner shields vulnerable areas behind the rear wheel from contamination and impact.
Its primary functions include:
- Protecting painted inner body panels
- Deflecting stones and road debris
- Reducing direct water spray into the wheel housing
- Helping protect wiring and nearby components
- Reducing dirt accumulation around the suspension area
- Helping maintain the intended aerodynamic airflow around the rear wheel
- Reducing wheel-arch noise
- Completing the factory inner wheel-arch structure
The liner does not carry suspension load, but it forms an important protective layer between the tyre and surrounding vehicle components.
Symptoms Of Wear Or Failure:
Wheel housing liners can become damaged through road impacts, tyre contact, accident damage or repeated removal.
Common symptoms include:
- Cracked plastic
- Split sections
- Torn mounting holes
- Missing pieces
- Liner hanging down
- Liner rubbing against the tyre
- Rattling from the rear wheel arch
- Flapping noises at speed
- Loose or missing fasteners
- Panel sitting out of alignment
- Heavy abrasion marks
- Damage from stones or road debris
- Distortion following an impact
- Excessive dirt behind the liner
- Water and debris entering previously protected areas
A damaged liner may remain partly attached while still failing to provide full protection.
Why Replacement Matters:
A damaged or missing wheel housing liner leaves the inner wheel arch more exposed to road contamination and impact.
Continued use can contribute to:
- Stone damage to bodywork
- Moisture accumulation
- Corrosion risk
- Dirt contamination around suspension parts
- Damage to wiring or mounting hardware
- Increased road noise
- Loose liner sections contacting the tyre
- Further damage to adjacent underbody panels
Replacing the damaged liner restores the original protective barrier and helps maintain correct fitment within the wheel arch.
