Save Expensive Thermostats And Oil Lines
Stripped threads are a common problem when removing oil lines from the external thermostat.
The aluminum thermostat threads become fused to the steel tube nut that secures the oil lines. If you get enough leverage to force the nut free, it takes the aluminum threads along with it – destroying the expensive thermostat and the oil line.
Elephant Racing has the solution; we manufacture a 30mm tube nut replacement kit that let's you save thermostats and oil lines.
If your oil lines won't come free from the thermostat, use a cut-off wheel to slit the side of the tube nut. You can then break the nut free using a cold chisel. This technique sacrifices the tube nut to save the expensive thermostat.
You then use our kit to replace the tube nut that was cut off. Both the oil line and the thermostat are saved.
The kit provides a 2-piece tube nut. The threaded nut fits over the end of the tube and is slipped on first. A spring lock ring is then slipped on. The spring lock ring cinches down on the tube, preventing the nut from coming off

Elephant Racing Cooling Systems for Superior Heat Management & Track-Ready Performance
Elephant Racing cooling systems are engineered to deliver exceptional heat control for high-performance, classic and motorsport-driven Porsche models. Known for premium materials, precision design and proven track reliability, these systems help manage the extreme thermal loads generated during spirited driving, tuned engine setups and competitive racing. Upgrading to Elephant Racing components ensures optimal cooling efficiency, stable temperatures and improved engine longevity—making them an essential choice for performance enthusiasts.
Whether upgrading for reliability, restoring performance or preparing a Porsche for track duty, Elephant Racing cooling solutions significantly enhance the vehicle’s ability to stay cool under pressure.
What Elephant Racing Cooling Systems Do
Elephant Racing cooling components are designed to:
- Increase
cooling capacity for high-output or air-cooled engines
- Improve
oil and coolant flow, ensuring faster heat rejection
- Enhance
radiator, oil cooler and thermal performance with high-efficiency
designs
- Stabilise
operating temperatures during prolonged high-load sessions
- Reduce
thermal soak in demanding driving environments
- Support turbocharged, track-prepared and heavily modified
- Porsches Improve system reliability with durable, performance-focused materials
These systems provide a major upgrade over standard cooling components and are ideal for drivers pushing their cars beyond everyday conditions.
Why Cooling Systems Fail Under Performance Conditions
Even well-designed cooling systems can become overwhelmed in
extreme environments, especially in tuned or older vehicles. Common failure
triggers include:
- Heat
saturation where standard components can’t dissipate enough heat
- Blocked
or undersized radiators restricting cooling efficiency
- Age-related
degradation of hoses, pipes and heat exchangers
- Oil
cooler failure reducing thermal control for critical components
- Corrosion
or leaks in radiators and connections
- Insufficient
airflow during track use or modified aerodynamics
- Increased engine output exceeding standard cooling system capacity
Symptoms include temperature spikes, overheating, oil temperature warnings, steam, performance loss or coolant smells from the engine bay.
Why You Should Upgrade to Elephant Racing Cooling Components
Replacing standard cooling parts with high-performance, precision-engineered Elephant Racing systems ensures superior cooling, enhanced durability and consistent performance in even the most demanding conditions.
Key benefits include:
- Significantly improved cooling efficiency and heat rejection
- Stable operating temperatures during track sessions or spirited road driving
- Enhanced oil cooling for engines, transmissions and differentials
- Greater reliability for air-cooled and turbocharged engines
- Reduced thermal stress on critical engine internals
- Longer component life and reduced maintenance costs
- Increased confidence for high-energy performance and motorsport use
An Elephant Racing cooling upgrade is one of the most effective improvements for longevity, performance stability and driver confidence.
