Designed for 911 engines compatible with a Nickel Ceramic bore, these pistons are machined from forged 2618 alloy for greater strength. The valve pockets are machined to accommodate high lift cams, and accept the stock stroke and rod length. The ring grooves are precision CNC machined and all new applications include skirt coating and 3D undercrown milling. Piston clearances designed for aluminium cylinders, steel/iron cylinders may require additional clearance.
2618 Aluminium Alloy
Pistons manufactured from 2618 wrought aluminium alloy are designed for racing and very demanding applications. These environments necessitate the higher strength 2618 aluminium alloy. When exposed to heat, 2618 aluminium alloy expands 15% more than 4032 aluminium alloy therefore the initial piston to cylinder wall needs to be 15% greater. This difference is most noticeable during cold start. When running at operating temperature both 2618 and 4032 pistons have approximately the same clearances.
