Porsche 996 ABS / PSM gauge light appears for no apparent reason.
One of the the most common problem ABS/PASM light coming on and it says it is the right front sensor with a reading out of range. If you switched the left front and right front sensors and am still getting the same fault code. Next course of action is going to be to replace the wiring going to the sensor since assuming there is a break in the wires or a short.

Porsche ABS Speed Sensors | Design911 Precision Replacement Parts for Safety, Performance & Reliability
ABS speed sensors are a vital component of Porsche’s braking and stability systems, continuously monitoring each wheel’s rotation speed to prevent lock-up and maintain control during braking. By transmitting real-time data to the ABS control unit, these sensors allow your Porsche’s braking system to apply just the right amount of pressure — enhancing safety, traction, and stability on every drive.
At Design911, we offer a comprehensive selection of ABS speed sensors, designed for precise fitment and long-term reliability. Each sensor is engineered using advanced materials and electronic components for consistent signal accuracy and resistance to heat, moisture, and corrosion. Ideal for repairs, restorations, or preventative maintenance, our sensors ensure your Porsche’s braking system continues to perform with the precision it was built for.
What Do ABS Speed Sensors Do?
ABS speed sensors play an essential role in ensuring your Porsche’s braking and stability control systems work seamlessly.
Core Functions:
• Monitor wheel rotation speed and detect variations in traction.
• Feed data to the ABS and traction control units.
• Prevent wheel lock-up during heavy braking.
• Improve vehicle stability on wet or slippery surfaces.
• Enhance braking balance and driver safety.
By providing real-time feedback, these sensors ensure your Porsche maintains optimal control, safety, and braking precision under all conditions.
Why Do ABS Speed Sensors Fail or Degrade?
Positioned near the wheel hub, ABS speed sensors operate in harsh conditions, exposed to road debris, heat, and vibration. Over time, these factors can lead to failure or inconsistent readings.
Common Causes of Failure Include:
• Corrosion or contamination from dirt, salt, or moisture.
• Physical damage from debris or impact.
• Electrical faults due to wiring fatigue or poor connections.
• Sensor ring damage or misalignment.
• Age-related wear affecting magnetic or electronic components.
When an ABS speed sensor fails, your dashboard warning light may appear, braking efficiency decreases, and safety systems like traction control can be compromised.
Why Replace or Upgrade Your Porsche ABS Speed Sensors?
Replacing worn or damaged sensors restores accurate data transmission to the ABS module, ensuring full braking control and safety. Design911’s precision-engineered sensors deliver performance and durability to match Porsche’s high standards.
Key Benefits:
• Restores accurate ABS and stability system function.
• Improves braking precision and control.
• Heat- and corrosion-resistant for long-lasting performance.
• Direct-fit replacement for quick, hassle-free installation.
• Designed for consistent signal reliability in all driving conditions.
• Suitable for both classic and modern Porsche models.
Design911’s Porsche ABS speed sensors combine engineering precision and dependability, giving your Porsche the safety, stability, and responsiveness it deserves.
Highlights
• Premium Porsche ABS speed sensors for braking accuracy.
• Precision-tested components for reliable wheel speed detection.
• Resistant to heat, corrosion, and environmental wear.
• Supports ABS, traction control, and stability systems.
• Perfect for servicing, restoration, or performance maintenance.
• Enhances safety and braking performance across all Porsche models.
